Be A Movie Star!

Adults & Senior/Ambassador girls are invited to help with our Troop Movie Event on the morning of June 7.  Volunteers will play the roles of adoring fans, paparazzi or movie stars who interact with girls waiting to "walk the green carpet" before their movie.  In addition, we have some less glamorous event staff roles to manage the crowds.  To learn more about this fun opportunity to gain service hours & make 1,900 girls feel special, contact tjones@girlscoutsoc.org.

We are getting ready for our best Fall Product program ever! To join the team, email nuts@GirlScoutsOC.org and cc your SU Manager/ Coordinator.  For more information about forming a Troop Team and Service Unit Team, visit our Fall Product Website for dates and more info over the summer and register for our workshop at the August Kickoff!

Cookie Prizes Are Here!

Troops should distribute Cookie Program girl reward items to girls right away!  Last day to report any recognition adjustments to your Service Unit Cookie Manager is Friday, May 23.

Please join us for a fond farewell celebration of the Neva B. Thomas Newport Beach Program Center! Stop by anytime during the open house hours- Fri. 6pm-9pm, Sat. 10am-4pm.

 

Inaugural Game-A-Thon Showcase - Aug. 2  Everyone

Camp Nights- parents, volunteers and girls are invited to join us to meet camp staff, ask questions, and get more information about Camp Scherman. Camp Nights will be from 7:00-8:30 PM.  To register for a Camp Night and get directions, please email ejohnson@girlscoutsoc.org

Open House

Pack a lunch and bring the family up to camp for Camp Scherman Open House on June 22. Go on a camp tour, meet the staff, and sing a few songs while you walk around the property. CAMP LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Note: The entry grade has been changed for both CIT 1 and CIT2

 

Counselor in Training 1 - July 14- July 25
For girls entering 10th and 11th grades

Discover your leadership talents and learn how to share them with children at one of the largest Girl Scout camps in the nation! Find out what the job of a camp counselor at Camp Scherman is all about. Program planning and other interactive skills will be shared while you discover your own leadership style.

Counselor in Training 2 - July 28- August 15
For girls entering 11th and 12 grades

Continue to develop your leadership style and discover the challenges and rewards of being a camp counselor. Time will be spent on camp program planning, problem solving and strengthening interpersonal skills. CIT 1 is a prerequisite for this program. There is an application and interview process and limited spots are available. To apply, email ejohnson@GirlScoutsOC.org

 

Apprentice - July 14- August 15
The Apprentice Program is designed for those who have completed CIT 1 and CIT 2 and are not yet eligible to be summer resident staff. The objective for the Apprentice program is for the participants to learn and work in different areas of camp to gain experience in planning and implementing quality camp programming for appropriate age groups. There is an application and interview process and limited spots are available. To apply, email

2014 WEEKEND CAMPS

Weekend Camps will be offered now through the summer!  Sign up as a troop or as a parent-child pair.  Registration is now open for Weekend Camps through Dec 2014!  Click here for a complete listing and more information on all weekend camps.

Who wants to saddle up and take a trail ride at camp? We have now added a horse option to the program offerings for the summer weekend camps only (additional fee required). Register today - space is limited!

SUMMER CAMP SPOTLIGHTS:

 

Songsational - July 14-18 For girls entering grades 4-6 

Sing and dance your way through the week! Do you like to be in the spotlight? Find your voice and sing some of your favorite songs, strum a few chords, write your own lyrics and choreograph dance moves for a "songsational" show! Register Now!

 

Camper Sampler - July 14-18 and July 21-25 
For girls entering grades 2-3
What will your little camper do this summer? It's not too early for her to experience camp. Just imagine the independence and self-confidence she will gain during a session at camp. Don't have her sit inside when she could be in the crystal clear mountain air! Whether she is new to camp or come every year, she can unplug from busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman with a little bit of everything - canoeing, archery, swimming, arts and crafts and more. She can choose her own adventure and have a summer to remember!  Register Now!

  Volunteer Training 

Junior Leaders . . . . Are your girls going for their Bronze Award?

Our new class may be just what you need to get started!  Join us for Bronze Award Advisor on June 11th from 6:30-9:30pm at the Anaheim Program Center as we walk you through the process.  This workshop is designed for adults working with girls who have completed or have nearly completed a Journey and are ready to focus on the Journey Take Action project.  For more information, contact Training@GirlScoutsOC.org.

It's highest awards season! Get your Girl Scout a gift to congratulate her on her big achievement! We have necklaces, charms, bumper stickers, patches, journals and more! Shop our selection online or stop by the shop to check them out in person!

 

While you're shopping for your gifts, pick up a Camp Care package! We're doing it a little differently now- select any items you want from around the shop, and as long as your total is over $25, you'll get a Camp Scherman animal backpack or Camp Scherman pillowcase for free! Then we'll send your camper the care package up to camp along with a note!
