Free Being Me 

GSUSA, in partnership with the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and Dove, has launched Free Being Me-a global leadership program developed to give girls a safe space to strengthen their self-confidence. Download the Free Being Me Toolkit for Leaders (on Volunteer Network, Program Ideas tab) and encourage girls to enter the Free Being Me PSA Contest.

Your gift to Girl Scouts of Orange County is vital to supporting girls in our community - and all families who give a gift of $40 or more will receive a commemorative Fund Her Success Campaign patch. Fund her Success today

 

Recognition Event - Last Day for Early Bird Registration!

Register by 9pm tonight to take advantage of lower pricing for our June 1 Recognition Event, honoring girls and adults. Early bird pricing: $30 adult, $15 girl. After May 5: $40 adult, $20 girl. Learn More 


Cookie Recognitions Have Arrived!

Service Units are picking-up their girl rewards this week and should distribute them to troops by May 15.  Troops will receive all items from their girls (except bike certificates & iPads which will be distributed at the 1250+ Cookie Club dinner). Be sure to distribute to girls no later than May 23.  Troops may need to reprint their recognition order in Snap due to corrections made after paperwork was submitted.

 

Girls Vote for Cookie Mascot

Who will be the mascot for the 2015-2016 cookie season? The playful zebra, the silly and sweet flamingo, the fast cheetah, the happy and cute hedgehog, or the confident and calm elephant. Cast your vote now! 

 

Round Up for Girl Scouts

When you purchase your items at the Girl Scout Shop, you will now have the opportunity to round up to the nearest dollar supporting the Girl Scouts of Orange County.  Money raised from our Round Up program will support Girl Scout activities and volunteers! Learn about more ways to support Girl Scouts   

 

Camping in San Clemente or Jet-Setting to Paris?

If you've got travel on your mind, it's never too early to start planning!  Some trips may require paperwork to be turned in a year in advance.  Join us for our next travel class on May 20th, 6:30-9:30pm at Anaheim Program Center to learn the basics of Girl Scout travel.  If you have any questions, please contact Training@GirlScoutsOC.org.

  

"The Girl Scout Way" Video Contest:  You've Still Got Time to Enter!

Showcase one of the 5 skills gained from participating in Product Sales in less than 2 minutes on video.  Along with the Grand Prize tour of the post-production studio, Post Factory, you may find yourself on Product Sales marketing materials in the near future!  Download the flyer and get your entry in by May 19th  - you'll never know unless you enter . . . . Day of Faith 2014 - May 17   Everyone

Celebrate over 100 years of Scouting in the Catholic Church! Girl Scouts and family members are invited for a day of fun, faith, and fellowship. All faiths are welcome.  

Words In the Wild Nature Writing Course May 31  Brownie Junior Cadette Senior Ambassador Volunteer

Join poet-naturalist Thea Gavin on a creative writing hike to practice simple and fun ways to connect with Crystal Cove through close observation and field notes. Great connection to Scribe badge for Juniors, MEdia Journey, Trees badge, or Outdoors badge for Cadettes, and Bliss Journey for Ambassadors.

 

Girl Scout Night at Angels Stadium - June 7   Everyone

Time is running out and tickets are limited - purchase your tickets for the game directly from the Angels through this form by May 8 and then register for the parade by emailing  GSAngelparade@gmail.com.  
 

MEdia Journey Series- June 24-27  Cadette

Cadettes look for the ME in media and learn how they can shape media-for themselves, their community and the world.

 aMUSE Journey Series - July 8-11   Junior

Girl Scout Juniors will earn the Reach Out,  Speak Out & Try Out awards as they gain  understanding of  the  many roles women and girls play and the leadership skills used to play them.

 

Mission Sisterhood Journey Series - July 14-17  Senior

When it comes to sisterhood, what girls start can spiral outward and change the world. Through Mission Sisterhood! girls see  the stories of sisterhood all around them and grow as leaders by widening their networks and broadening their world.

 

White Water Rafting- High Adventure Group - July 17-20  Cadette Senior Ambassador

Suit up for an adventure down the American River and explore a cavern with the High Adventure Group! Please review flyer for all of the details and to register. 

 

Breathe Journey Series for CadettesAugust 5-8  Cadette

Cadettes will earn the Aware and start on the Alert, and Affirm awards as they explore the air  around them using their  five senses  while participating in activities involving aromatherapy,  cooking,  science, art  & more.

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent.

Camp Nights- parents, volunteers and girls are invited to join us to meet camp staff, ask questions, and get more information about Camp Scherman. Camp Nights will be from 7:00-8:30 PM.  To register for a Camp Night and get directions, please email ejohnson@girlscoutsoc.org

Open House

Pack a lunch and bring the family up to camp for Camp Scherman Open House, on June 22. Go on a camp tour, meet the staff, and sing a few songs while you walk around the property. Girls and Guitars - July 21-25

For girls entering grades 4-6

Can you play riffs or strum in the key of G? Learn to play guitar to accompany popular camp songs. Join your fellow musicians for camp activities when you aren't strumming. If you have a guitar, please bring it, but it is not required. Register Now!

 

The Science of Camp - July 28-Aug 1 

For girls entering grades 4-6

Explore the wonders of science and the outdoors as you make and launch bottle rockets, experiment with slimey, oozey chemical reactions, perform an egg drop, and build catapults and marshmallow shooters. Have fun as you explore physics, chemistry, and engineering! Register Now!

 

Picture This - July 28-Aug 1 and Aug 11-15

For girls entering grades 4-6

As you trek around camp, you will be inspired to take the perfect photographs of breathtaking landscapes, nature and your new camp friends. Upload your photos and learn to use editing software to create frame-worthy photos for your wall. Girls must provide their own digital camera. Register Now!
