Have You Nominated a Girl Scout for Celebrate Leadership?
Celebrate Leadership is our annual fundraising event, and we're looking for a few great Girl Scout representatives to share their Girl Scout story with 400+ community leaders, receive professional speaking training and coaching, participate in a professional photo shoot with an OC community leader and more!  Nominate a girl by Apr 15!  

 

Young Ambassadors Program - deadline April 7

The Smithsonian Latino Center's Young Ambassadors Program is a national college preparatory and leadership program for graduating high school seniors.  Up to 24 students who have demonstrated interest and commitment to the arts, sciences, or humanities as it pertains to Latino communities will be selected to participate in a weeklong all-expenses paid interdisciplinary training seminar in Washington D.C., followed by a four-week internship in a preselected museum or cultural center in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.    

 

World Hunger Leadership Challenge - deadline April 11

The USA TODAY Charitable Foundation and the Lift a Life Foundation have teamed up for Lead2Feed, which awards $1,000-$25,000 to teams of students in grades 6-12 who create and execute a service-learning project that attempts to solve a local, statewide, or national hunger-related issue, develop an action plan to achieve the goal, and demonstrate leadership.

Girl Delegate Advisor Program - Apr 22   Cadette Senior Ambassador Volunteer

The Girl Delegate Advisor Program is a year-long program for Girl Scouts in 8th-12th grade to learn more about and experience the governance of GSOC, what it takes to be a delegate and more! Register by April 17.

Join Muzeo for a day of free eco-crafts and activities in celebration on Earth Day and the annual Trash Art contest! More info   

 

Song-a-Long In the Park - May 3   Everyone

Love singing Girl Scout songs?  Girl Scout Daisies to Ambassadors, Leaders/Advisors, and Alumni are invited.  Bring your own dinner for a picnic in the park and get ready to make new friends and sing!  Register by April 30.

Brea's Girl Scout Junior Troop 767 is hosting an event to help Daisies earn a Journey. Come be inspired by some older Girl Scouts and learn about what exists Between Earth and Sky!

 

Girl Scout Night at Angels Stadium - June 7   Everyone

Open to all Girl Scouts, volunteers, families, friends - tickets on sale now! Each Girl Scout who orders tickets will receive an exclusive 2014
Angels/Girl Scout Commemorative Patch.  You can also register to participate in a pre-game banner parade.

  Camp Scherman

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent. 
 
Camper Spotlight 

Emma has been coming to camp since 2nd Grade. Camping runs in her family - her grandma, mom and aunt were all campers and have all worked at camp Scherman!  Emma loves everything about camp, and says she would live up there all the time if she could. Emma is a true "camp kid" who has discovered her self-confidence, her inner strength and her independence at camp.

Camp Nights- parents, volunteers and girls are invited to join us to meet camp staff, ask questions, and get more information about Camp Scherman. Camp Nights will be from 7:00-8:30 PM.  To register for a Camp Night and get directions, please email ejohnson@girlscoutsoc.org

Spring Weekend Camp Spotlights: 

 

Songsational - April 4-6   Everyone   $135 per person

Do you like to sing? Do you like to be in the spotlight? If so come join us for a weekend of endless singing, skits and to top the night on Saturday- S'MORES!!! In addition to singing songs while walking through camp, you can paddle your way across the lake, take aim at archery, and learn a variety of skits and take home your very own skit book! 

 

Starry Nights - June 27-29   Everyone    $135 per person

Make a wish on a shooting star as you gaze up at the night sky from your campsite in the forest. Stargazing and folklore will fill your evening as you experience the primitive area of Camp Scherman. During the day, have fun out and about hiking, swimming, boating, archery, or whatever else your group decides!

Whether you are new to camp, or you are a weekend camp warriors unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman. Hang out on the lake or at the museum. You get to create your schedule of activities, be as busy or relaxed as you like. This is your weekend- choose your own adventure and have a weekend to remember!

Summer Resident Camp Spotlights: 

 

Camper Sampler    
Offered every week from July 14-Aug 15!  
Make a wish on a shooting star as you gaze up at the night sky from your campsite that sits under a canopy of forest trees. Stargazing and folklore will fill your evenings as you experience the primitive area of Camp Sherman, sleeping outside under the stars. When the sun is out, have fun out and about experiencing camp the way you choose - swimming, arts and crafts, boating? It's up to you! 

 

Counselor in Training 1 - July 14-25

For girls entering 11th grade
Discover your leadership talents and learn how to share them with children at one of the largest Girl Scout camps in the nation! Find out what the job of a camp counselor at Camp Scherman is all about. Program planning and other interactive skills will be shared while you discover your own leadership style. 

 

Counselor in Training 1 -  July 14-25
For girls entering 11th grade

Essentials . . . from Daisies to Ambassadors!

Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness Remote First Aid is the Level II class required when emergency care may be compromised, such as at event with more than 200 poeple, when backpacking, or when EMS help is more than 30 minutes away.  

You may be called upon to demonstrate your emergency skills, so be prepared when the time comes! 

 

Wilderness Remote First Aid is being offered at Anaheim Program Center on Saturday, April 12th 8:30am-5:30pm and Sunday, April 13th 8:30am-5:30pm.
