Celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend Feb 7-8

Special council-sponsored cookie booths will be up at El Pollo Loco, Mimi's Cafe, Red Robin and Mimi's restaurants - find locations here!  If you didn't get the opportunity to be at one of these special booths, you can participate in the day and purchase a patch in our shop - here are some ideas.  You can also join our national Twitter party on Feb 5 at 6 pm in partnership with Mom It Forward!

 

Valentine's Day Cookie Bundles

Why buy chocolates for your valentine when you can give a Chocolate Lovers Bundle of Peanut Butter Patties, Thin Mints and Caramel deLites.  See the Volunteer Network for cute bundling labels.

 

Cookie Rally & Mega Drop Photos

Girls and family members had a great time getting ready for our cookie program at our Cookie Rally event on Jan 11- check out the pics! Volunteers passed out over a million packages of cookies at our Mega Deliveries this past weekend - view the photos!

 

Sensitive Issues Talking Points

During Cookie Season, outside entities with clear agendas may take the opportunity to feed false information about Girl Scouts and the Cookie Program to the public.  Please use these talking points if issues arise when selling cookies.

 

Volunteer Invite a Friend Promotion 

Check your email tomorrow for the opportunity to receive $50 to spend at the Girl Scouts of the USA shop! This February, invite a friend to start a Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie or Junior troop and you will get $50 to the GSUSA online shop. The new volunteer will receive program resources to make it easy to get started, including a Girls Guide, a Journey Set (Girl & Adult guide), and Badge Activity Set. Online Marketing Reminders For Girls   Everyone

Girls may email family and friends, but cannot have customers pay online.  Girl Scouts should NOT post on Ebay or Craigslist due to the online payment prohibition, girl safety issues and because GSOC girls are not permitted to sell outside of Orange County.  Please see our  Family Guide and Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge for guidance.

 

Cookie Program Safety Tips   Everyone

Every parent and guardian knows that the world can be a scary place. The good news for Girl Scout families is that girls' safety has been a priority within the Girl Scout organization since it was founded in 1912.  By following Cookie Program Safety Tips, parents and volunteers can ensure that the Cookie Program is a fun learning experience for girls and also a safe one.


Center for Living Peace - Feb. Everyone

Check out these cool programs offered by CLP such as knitting and crocheting, movie making, and comic drawing! These workshops are excellent additions to various badges and journey programs. 

 

Scout Day at the Aquarium of the Pacific - Feb 8   Everyone

Visit the aquarium and receive a self-led activity sheet made just for scouts! This self-guided event is a great way to experience the aquarium in an intentional Girl Scout way-and work on earning a badge, too!

National Girls and Women in Sports Day - Feb 8   Daisy Brownie Junior Cadette

Girls and boys ranging from 5 to 12 years old are welcome to participate in a clinic taught by UCI's female athletes in order to promote and encourage female participation in athletics. The day includes instruction in basketball, golf, soccer, volleyball, cheer, and track, with free admission to the women's basketball game right after the clinic!

 

Girl Advisor Applications Due - Feb 18   Cadette Senior Ambassador

Are you ready to advocate for Girl Scouts in the community by being a girl advisor to the GSOC Board of Directors?  If you are currently a Girl Scout in the eighth, ninth, tenth, or eleventh grade and are interested in planning for the future of Girl Scouting, then this may be the opportunity for you!  Apply online

 

Kelp Fest 2014 - Apr 26   Everyone

Participate in several Girl Scout Gold Award Projects while having a great, fun-filled, educational and free day at Kelpfest 2014! Perform in the Ocean Idol contest, help in a beach cleanup, make ocean-based crafts, explore tide pools and much more!  

  Camp Scherman

Don't forget that you can use your cookie dough to pay for camp. Come up and experience camp as a troop during a weekend camp or for your own adventure during a weekend camp with you and your parent. 
 

Camp Nights- parents, volunteers and girls are invited to join us to meetcamp staff, ask questions, and get more information about Camp Scherman. Camp Nights will be from 7:00-8:30 PM.  To register for a Camp Night and get directions, please email ejohnson@girlscoutsoc.org

Whether you are new to camp, or you are a weekend camp warrior, unplug from your busy life and recharge at Camp Scherman. Hang out on the lake or at the museum. You get to create your schedule of activities, be as busy or relaxed as you like.  Ranch House Cabins: $135 per person, Upper Camp: $104 per person.  *Note: Aug 1-3: Upper Camp available only

Leave your troop in the city and have some one on one fun with your daughter. Enjoy a weekend with your favorite Girl Scout where she doesn't have to share you. We do the cooking and the planning so you don't have to. Participate together in various camp activities

Introducing  . . . Bronze Award Class!

Are your girls almost ready to start their Bronze Award Take Action project?  Do you have questions about the latest requirements for your girls to earn their Bronze Award?
