Register for the August Kickoff Today
Have you registered for the August Kick-Off yet? E-Biz will be down on August 9 and 10 - this means that the last day to register is August 8.  The August Kickoff will feature helpful and informative workshops, exciting exhibitors and everything you need to start your new year off right!  Log in and register through your e-biz account. Registration for morning and afternoon sessions is just $7.  Add lunch for an additional $6. UCI parking is $10, carpooling is suggested.

Summer learning at Girl Scouts University
GSUSA's Purposeful Leadership series uses a collection of online modules to explore topics like emotional intelligence, difficult conversations and leading change. Take each module individually or complete the whole series - it's up to you!

  

Girl Scouts Leadership Center Update
We are excited to announce the unanimous approval by the Newport Beach City Council of the land lease for the building and construction of the new Girl Scouts Leadership Center (GSLC) in Newport Beach.  This exciting milestone kicks off the next phase in the design and construction of our new waterfront leadership center, a state-of-the-art, multi-media learning environment where girls will connect, explore 21st century careers and lead take action projects that change the world.

Financial Planning Workshops 

Many women don't think they have sufficient knowledge about financial matters.  But we all need to be prepared to make wise decisions about our personal financial situations.  Join us on Thursday, July 25, at our headquarters in Irvine for Women and Money, part of a series of complimentary Financial Planning Workshops.  Click here for more information and to sign up to attend.

Grow your own mini-garden this summer with these step by step instructions and help girls see how seeds come to life, just like the Flower Friends in Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden!

Bug Census   Brownie  

Here is a great way to earn your Bugs badge and make progress toward your Computer Expert badge. If you do your census on a hike, you can also get your Hiker badge!

 

Girl Scout Yoga Week and More - July  Everyone  

Check out Girl Scout Yoga Week designed especially for Girl Scouts and other cool activities that fit in great with your Girl Scout badges and journeys!

 Discovery Science Center Sleepover Celebration - July 12  Cadette  

Only a few days left to register for this totally awesome event to kick-off your Cadette-hood! A sleepover celebrating your achievement, getting a jump start on the Breathe Journey, exploring the Discovery Science Center and more fun!

 

Sow What Journey Series - Starting on July 13  Senior  

A summer journey for Senior Girl Scouts to learn about their food and the global food network.  Learn about the food choices you make, and how they have an impact on your planet - buy locally grown produce, cook and eat together and Take Action for the Harvest Award!

 

National Dance Day - July 27   Everyone

Now open for registration! Dance your heart out with Girl Scouts from all over Orange County and experience a variety of dance styles.  We will focus on the many benefits of dance as part of a healthy lifestyle and showcase the strong sisterhood that is Girl Scouts.

 

Worm Bins Workshop  - Aug. 3  Senior Ambassador  

Working on your Sow What or Justice leadership journeys?  You may be interested in finding out more about reducing kitchen waste and creating garden nutrients by vermicomposting in this workshop presented by the Ecology Center.

Cadette-o-Rama - Oct. 10-13  Cadette Senior Ambassador  

Cadette-o-Rama is a weekend campout for Cadettes to compete in various Girl Scout skills. The level of competition can vary based on the troop's desire, but we require good sportsmanship and a fun attitude!

Get Moving - July 6-14 Cadette
Energize, investigate and innovate while at camp. Create recycled art, discover new recipes while exploring other camp activities. For girls entering grades 4-6. More information  

 

Backpacking Adventure Breathe Journey - July 6-18  Cadette Senior
Pack your trail mix, lace up your boots and join us on an adventure to discover the air around you. Sleep under the stars, learn to cook on a camping stove and leave no trace. For girls entering grades 6-9.

Rodeo Daze - July 10-14   Senior Ambassador 
Saddle up for wild wild west adventures! Beginner and intermediate riders learn basics of horsemanship, caring for a horse and trail riding experience. For girls entering grades 9-12. More information 

Buildings, Boats, and Bridges - July 10-18   Junior Cadette  

Learn building design, build your own mini boat to float on the lake, and work together to create a human bridge and participate in other camp activities. For girls entering grades 5-8. More information 

CSI: Camp Scene Investigation - July 22-31   Junior Cadette

This is not your ordinary CSI! Everyone is a suspect in an outrageous "whodunit" mystery. Pack your imagination and keen detective skills and your fellow camp sleuths to solve the mystery. For girls entering grades 6-8. More information 

Camper Sampler - July 26- 31  Brownie   Junior Cadette Senior Ambassador
Unplug from your busy life and experience the beauty of the outdoors with friends. Chill out and the lake or pool, take a trail on your way to archery- you choose your summer camp adventure. For girls entering grades 2-3, 4-6, 6-8, 9-12. More information

Troop Camp - Aug 1-4   Everyone camp girls on grass

Register your troop for a last hurrah at the end of summer. Let camp staff lead your group in exciting outdoor activities such as horseback riding, archery, hikes, and more. Have fun on the lake paddling a canoe, take a dip in the pool, or relax at the end of the day as you gaze at the stars and find late summer constellations. There is so much to do at Camp Scherman; which activities will your troop choose? More information  

  

Me and My Guy - Sept 27-29  Everyone
Pack your car and head up to the mountains for a special weekend just for dads or "special guy" and your Girl Scout! Aim your arrow at the balloons on the archery range... how many can you pop? Race across the lake in a canoe then team up more fun times together, just you together. Girls -- plan a silly skit with your guy...you'll be amazed at what you can get him to do!  More information  

 

Night Owls Sept 27-29  Cadette Senior Ambassador  

Experience the wonders of camp after the sun goes down! A weekend geared towards the older Girl Scout, we will fill your evenings with nighttime adventures as you experience parts of Camp Scherman as only the night can provide. More information

 

Good Eats- Nov 1-3 Everyone  

Whip up some marvelous meals and tasty treats at camp and design recipe cards to recreate those yummy eats at home! Have fun in the kitchen, or try out your oven mitts with Dutch oven, and even outdoor grill cooking! In between taste tests, choose from a buffet of camp activities including archery, canoeing and more! More information 

 

Journey Retreat - Nov 1-3  Cadette
Take a deep breath and get ready to focus all your senses on the crisp clear air at Camp Scherman! Dive into a weekend full of fun while you experience the air around you and contemplate the city air you left behind. Join other Cadettes as you earn the Aware and Alert awards and get prepared to take action once you get back down the mountain.
