Nominate a Girl Scout for Celebrate Leadership
What is Celebrate Leadership? It's our Annual Fundraising Gala, held on Nov 1 at the Island Hotel, and we're looking for a few great Girl Scout representatives! Selected Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to share their Girl Scout story with 400+ community leaders, receive professional speaking training and coaching, participate in a professional photo shoot with an OC communty leader and more! Nominations are due April 1 - download nomination form.

Cheer at the Angels 5K! - 3/30
Wouldn't you love to have a bunch of Girl Scouts cheering you on at the end of running a 5K at Angels Stadium? You can be those Girl Scouts! In return for cheering on the runners, you will receive a voucher to attend an Angels game in April or May (limited number per game). For more information or to register, email Chrissy Vaughn.
Friendship First PSA Contest - Deadline 4/30
Are you a true friend? Do you have a thing or two to say about bullying? Check out the Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest with GSUSA!
VetMed Open House - 4/6
Learn about pet care and animal awareness, learna bout sea creatures, exotic animals and service dogs at the College of Veterinary Medicine's Open House in Pomona. In case that wasn't enough, each Girl Scout Brownie, Junior, Cadette and Senior will complete portions of an animal Badge!
Discover Nursing Night - 4/12 Join Saddleback Nursing students for this workshop designed to discover nursing as a career! The workshop will include demonstrations of skills nurses perform, basic physical assessment, hand hygiene/infection control, basic first aid and allergic reaction treatment.
SCR Theater Tour & Play - Tour on 4/15, play - various dates
Go on a backstage tour of South Coast Repertory with presentations and question-and-answer sessions with remarkable working artists. The tour concludes with a design presentation of the actual costumes featured in aMUSE, and then the Scouts roll up their sleeves for a hands-on costume design exercise. Come back a few weeks later for a performance of The Night Fairy (various dates).

Kelp Fest 2013 - 4/20
Participate in several Girl Scout Gold Award Projects while having a great, fun-filled, educational and free day at Kelpfest 2013! Perform in the Ocean Idol contest, help in a beach cleanup, make ocean-based crafts, explore tide pools and much more!
Understanding the Native American - 4/20
A Native American speaker will educate the girls about customs and traditions of their way of life, and girls will create art inspired by local Native American art and taste some Native American delicacies. The culmination of the workshop will have the group enjoying an authentic Pow-Wow in which girls will learn Native American games, dance steps and songs.
Girl's CEO Connection "Realizing a Vision" Conference - 4/27
Join other high school girls from Southern California for this one day event at UCLA to hear about creating your future as an entrepreneur and woman leader. Girls will choose discussion sessions to attend as well as eat lunch with one of the featured presenters. Register for $15 online. GS troops may have 1 free adult chaperone admission by emailing name, email address, phone number and lead girl's name on the registration to Sylvia Scott: girlsceoconnect@icloud.com.
Save the Date - Fourth Annual National Dance Day! - 7/27
Girl Scouts from all over Orange County will gather to experience many forms of dance: yoga, zumba, afrocuban, tai chi qigong, and more. We'll also work together to learn an age/level-appropriate choreographed dance that people all across the country will be dancing that day. The day will focus on the many benefits of dance as part of a healthy lifestyle and showcase the strong sisterhood that is Girl Scouts! If you are interested email Rachel Goldman.

June 25-29, July 6-10, July 14-18, July 26-31 Unplug from your busy life and experience the beauty of the outdoors with friends. Chill out and the lake or pool, take a trail on your way to archery- you choose your summer camp adventure. For girls entering grades 2-3, 4-6, 6-8, 9-12. Take The Reins - June 29-July 3, July 22-26 Beginner and Intermediate riders polish your skills and learn to saddle, groom and care for the horse. Improve your riding skills at mounting and dismounting and riding position. For girls entering grades 4-6. More information can be found here Pioneer Days - July 6-10  Travel back in time and experience living like the early settlers. Try old fashioned bread making, jam making and so much more while you sleep under the stars. For girls entering grades 4-6.  Songsational - July 14-18 Find your voice and sing your favorite camp songs, create your lyrics and choreograph dances for the "songsational" show. For girls entering grades 4-6.

Family Camp - Aug 30-Sept 2  Enjoy a unique and relaxing weekend camp experience with family and friends taking in all of the beauty of camp and its surroundings. Explore wide-open spaces and enjoy staff-planned nature and camp activities for all ages, including swimming, hiking, crafts, games, campfires, archery, and canoeing.
Mom and Me - Sept 6-8 Get out of OC and have some mom and daughter fun in the fresh mountain air as you experience the many wonders of Camp Scherman! Get ready for a fun filled weekend of togetherness and memories that will last a lifetime!
Games Galore - Sept 6-8  Like to run, dodge and capture the other team's flag? Spend time learning and playing new and exciting games and revisit some great games of the past, all while still enjoying the other activity options.
Night Owls - Sept 27-29
Experience the wonders of camp after the sun goes down! A weekend geared towards the older Girl Scout, we will fill your evenings with nighttime adventures as you experience parts of Camp Scherman as only the night can provide. |
