More Than a Million Boxes of Cookies Arrive in OC
More than a million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies were distributed to more than 1,000 Girl Scout Troops on Saturday at our two mega-drop locations in Irvine and Buena Park! An enormous thank you to the amazing volunteers who braved the rain with a smile on their faces to make sure everyone got their cookies! Check out the OC Register article and video!
Business Lessons From Girl Scouts in OC Family The GIrl Scout Cookie Program is largest girl-led business in the world, helping girls develop 5 skills that help them become leaders in their own lives and in the community. OC Family interviewed a current Girl Scout and a Girl Scout Alumna who developed these important skills through the Girl Scout Cookie Program!
Do You Know A Girl Who Is Earning Her Silver Award?
Silver Award recipients deserve recognition, and are entitled to certificates and congratulatory letters from the Governor and other dignitaries. Please let us know about any girl who is completing her Silver Award in 2013 (even if she is completing late in the year). Send her correctly spelled name, Troop number and advisor's name to Heather at hmadrigal@girlscoutsoc.org by March 15 to ensure that she receives her letters in time for special award ceremonies this Spring. |

The Cookies are here! Leaders & Troop Cookie Managers will want to check out our Cookie Blog, Resources and Forms and Volunteer Network for tools and helpful hints like "bundling" labels for this week's Super Snacks for Super Bowl promotion.
Do Your Girls Need Permits for Cookie Sales?
Some cities require girls to carry a permit when selling cookies. Troop Cookie Managers were instructed to print and distribute as needed. Leaders can also access this resource on the Volunteer Network, Product Sale tab, Forms link, Permits folder. |

Online Cookie Marketing Tools
Girls, with adult supervision, can set goals, send e-cards & download facebook announcements inviting family and friends to order cookies using online marketing tools on Cookie Command Center (COCO).
Girls and families will find helpful information like Cookie Share Receipts on the Tools for Selling section of our website.
Council's Own Brownie Badge - 2/15
This special Badge will allow Brownies to experience the Theater for Young Audiences program at South Coast Repertory. Your Brownie troop can attend one of three performances of Anastasia Krupnik and complete activities specifically designed for your play.
Discovery Science Center- Girl Scout Sleepovers - 2/15, 3/8
Grab your sleeping bags and flashlights and get ready to spend the night at Discovery Science Center! Overnight Explorers sleepovers incorporate programming that align with Girl Scout Journey requirements.
Discovery Science Center- Scout Sunday - 3/10
"Scout Sundays" are a great way for Girl Scouts to explore Discovery Science Center and work toward specific Journey awards. Scouts will have access to all exhibits, special hands-on learning stations and activities, and interactive demonstrations - created just for them!
aMUSE Journey Series - starts Mar. 10
Connect with other Girl Scout Juniors as you embark on the aMUSE leadership journey. This 4 week series allows girls to explore new roles and bust stereotypes, all while completing their It's Your Story- Tell It! aMUSE Leadership Journey. Completing a Girl Scout Junior Journey is the first step toward earning your Girl Scout Bronze Award!
Breathe Journey Series - April 28
Join other Girl Scout Cadettes in Orange County to take the Breathe Leadership journey in this unique series. Girls will earn the Aware, Alert, and Affirm awards as they explore the air around them using their five senses while participating in activities involving aromatherapy, cooking, art & more!
Mission: Sisterhood! Journey Series - starts July 8
Join other Girl Scout Seniors in Orange County to take part in this 5 session Mission: Sisterhood! Journey. Girls will earn the Sisterhood Award as they gain an understanding of sisterhood in their own lives and in the world. Girls define a sisterhood issue, create a plan for how to Take Action and put it in place!

Troop 2880 had great time fixing dinner for 40 guests at the Ronald McDonald House in Orange in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The girls selected southern favorites for their menu including hush puppies, grits, and sweet potato pie!
