World Thinking Day Award
Many Girl Scouts have participated in World Thinking Day activities in past years, so we are excited that there is now an award for this special day! It has been in the works and is already included on your badge sign-off page in the Girls Guide. In tandem with this new award, we are launching a Training Twenty to help you get the word out. We hope you participate in honoring our sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries.
Disneyland Scholarship Deadline Jan 31
Disneyland Resort is granting $75,000 in scholarships to 10 graduating seniors in Orange County. Interested girls should contact Lesley Finch at lfinch@girlscoutsoc.org to request GSOC's EIN #. Application deadline is January 31, 2013. Learn more
Got Milk Finalists Announced
The California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), the creator of GOT MILK?, and the Girl Scouts in California announced today the names of 24 GOT MILK? - Girl Scouts Photo Contest finalists from the Golden State. Congratulations to Sydney from Yorba Linda, Iman from Yorba Linda, and Emma from Long Beach! And thanks to all who entered - you will receive a Got Milk patch soon! View winning entries
Girl Scout Night at Angel Stadium - June 1, 2013
Bring your troop, family and friends for a night out at the ball field to watch the Angels take on the Houston Astros. Order your tickets today! Troops can also register to walk in the parade during the pre-game by emailing angelsgame@girlscoutsoc.org.

National Girl Scout Cookie Day - Friday, February 8, 2013 
GSUSA has declared February 8th as National Girl Scout Cookie Day to raise awareness about the Girl Scout Cookie Program and educate the public about the skills girls learn and how to purchase cookies. In honor of this new special day, Girl Scouts of Orange County is collaborating with several Orange County restaurants and will be encouraging Girl Scouts to host Cookie Stands at their OC residence. The Cookies Are Coming!
Girl Scout cookies and program materials will be distributed to troops and girls Jan. 26-29. Contact your Service Unit Cookie Manager for local delivery date, time and location. Cookies & order cards will be distributed to girls so they may begin participating on Sun., Jan. 27.
Process Cookie Payments with Smart Phones
The Cookie Program is now a high tech affair! Some Girl Scouts will be processing payments with a smart phone & credit card reader. Parents who are interested in mobile payment systems should review the information on the Family Guide.

Santa Ana Zoo Scout Program   
Do you love animals? The Santa Ana Zoo has special programs planned just for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts! This would be a great field trip for Girl Scout Daisies working on their 3 Cheers for Animals Journey, Girl Scout Brownies working on their Pets badge, and Girl Scout Juniors working on their Animal Habitats badge!
aMUSE Journey Series - starts Mar. 10
Connect with other Girl Scout Juniors as you embark on the aMUSE leadership journey. This 4 week series allows girls to explore new roles and bust stereotypes, all while completing their It's Your Story- Tell It! aMUSE Leadership Journey. Completing a Girl Scout Junior Journey is the first step toward earning your Girl Scout Bronze Award! |
