ANNOUNCEMENTS Holiday Closure and E-Communications Schedule
The Weekly Girl Scout Volunteer Update ENewsletter will take a "holiday break" and will resume delivery in your inbox on January 7. Girl Scouts of Orange County's offices will be closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 22 to January 2, 2013. The Girl Scout Shop in Irvine will be closed for inventory and the holidays from December 17 through January 2. Our offices and shop will reopen at 8 am on Wed, January 2, 2013. While we are closed, we will be performing upgrades to our servers. You may experience intermittent issues with the Volunteer Network while we work to improve our services to you!

Service Unit Managers/Coordinators: Submit your Delegate List
The Delegate Installation Committee is getting ready to welcome our new Delegates on our Jan 10 Installation and Training meeting. Please help us prepare by getting your delegate list in as soon as possible! Submit delegate names via the Delegate/Alternate Confirmation Form. Your Delegate Resource packet has been posted on the Volunteer Network under the Training & Recognition tab. The Annual Meeting is planned for the last week in March . . . the exact date will be announced very soon.
Congratulations Bradley
We are very pleased to announce that Bradley Wedekind, Volunteer Specialist for the South Coast Region has accepted the newly created position of Volunteer Specialist - Events, Series and Travel, beginning January 1, 2013. Bradley has been with us since 2009 and has held positions in the GSOC Shop and was a GSLE Specialist in Program before working as a Volunteer Specialist. We look forward to Bradley's ability to support volunteers as they lead Girl Scouts through events, series and travel pathways. Congrats Bradley!

More Troop Cookie Manager Trainings in January
There will be additional Troop Cookie Manager Trainings on January 2nd, 7th, and 12th. Register online via the Council Calendar starting this week. Troop Cookie Managers who participated in classroom training last year may chose the online training option. New Troop Cookie Managers and Troop Cookie Managers who trained prior to 2012 must attend a classroom course. Contact your Service Unit Cookie Manager for more details if you qualify for the Experienced TCM online training option. |

Check out these workshops including cartoon drawing, herb gardens, pin-hole cameras, astrology, New Year's vision boards and more! Each workshop description defines the GS badge and or journey connection.
Herb Gardens - Jan. 5 This all ages program presented by the Ecology Center at Center for Living Peace is especially useful for GS seniors working on your Locavore badge- step 3 or Sow What? Leadership journey!
New Year's Vision Boards - Jan. 12
Create a vision board under the direction of Orange County Museum of Art at CLP! Great way to complete step 5 of your cadette "Science of Happiness" badge, start your Create- It project on the GIRLtopia journey, or contemplate your dreams for your ambassador Bliss journey!
Peter Pan- You're Flying - Jan. 26 Only a handful of spaces left- Register now! Sprinkle on some pixie dust and get ready for a fun adventure in Neverland! Girl Scouts are invited to a special pre-performance workshop with cast members and Cathy Rigby's Peter Pan play at the Pantages theater. Please keep in mind that this is the same date as our Cookie Mega Drop. Please make plans accordingly. Troop 2123 held a Holiday Bazaar in Laguna Woods and will use funds raised to buy Christmas gifts for underprivileged children and adults through the Regional Center of Orange County's Wish Card program. That's the spirit of the season!
