As a volunteer, you know the tremendous impact of Girl Scouts and we thank you for your ongoing dedication to building leaders.  As you support girls like Kendall, you are providing endless opportunities for girls to realize their dreams.  Today, we ask you to give even more girls a brighter future with a year-end donation to Girl Scouts of Orange County.  Your contribution is tax-deductible and will truly make a difference to a girl just like Kendall.

 

Girl Scouts Honors Fall Product Top 10 Sellers

Congratulations to our 2012 Fall Product Program top sellers Dakota Winding for nuts and Isabella Karmis for magazines!   These and our other Top Ten for both nuts & magazines were honored at a special reception at the Council Headquarters in Irvine.  Click here to see the rest of the Top Ten Achievers!  
 

12 Days of Girl Scouts
 
From December 6 through December 21 (Mondays through Thursdays), we will be giving away one Girl Scouts prize package every day to one lucky winner! Enter online every day for your chance to win!  Visit www.GirlScoutsOC.org starting this Thursday to enter.

 

White House Equal Futures App Challenge
The White House has a fun and educational challenge for Girl Scouts who use apps on their smartphones, tablet computers or other mobile devices! The Equal Futures App Challenge asks girls to create an app that promotes civic education and/or inspires other girls to serve as leaders in our democracy.  GSUSA CEO Anna Maria Chavez will serve as a judge for this challenge alongside Jack Dorsey, creator and co-founder of Twitter, Representative Barbara Ballard, Andrew Shue, co-founder of dosomething.org, and many more!  Click here for more info.

 

 

Are you an OC Register Subscriber?
If so, you will soon
receive a gold envelope in the mail containing what looks like a check. You can endorse it to the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of your choice, and mail it directly to the Register for that charity to receive donated ad space in the Register. We encourage you to designate Girl Scouts and help us reach even more girls with Girl Scouts' life-changing programs!  More info

Cookie Program

Cookie Training Starts Today! 

Register today for a Troop Cookie Manager training held Dec. 3-15, 2012 and check out the Cookie Blog daily for updates and helpful information. 

 

Cookie Rally - Jan. 19

This event will fill to capacity soon, so register today as a Troop, family, or parent/daughter team for this fun event!  You'll earn the Cookie Activity Pin and enjoy interactive activity booths with cookie tasting, goal setting tips, prizes and even a UCI Basketball Game!

Looking for a holiday service project?  Center for Living Peace will be taking collections for Human Options through Dec. 14.

 Here are some great programs for Girl Scouts to get involved in! Check out these workshops including Crocheting for a Cause, Printmaking, Art Sensory, and New Earth Drumming! Yoga and storytelling also available. These workshops are a great way to learn skills for badges and enhance your journey experiences!

Mom and Me Cookie Badge Weekend Camp - Jan 25 - 27  shorthand-brownies Juniors  

Get out of the cold and into the kitchen for food focused festivities! Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors will have some culinary fun as they prepare yummy snacks and simple meals to earn their Cook Badge! Tour our camp kitchen where food is prepared for hundreds of people at a time, try out some fun recipes that you can recreate at home, and find out about healthy treats from other cultures.  Bring your appetite!  More info

Junior Girl Scout Troop 1066 from Laguna Niguel worked with other troops to collect food and assemble sack lunches for the homeless. The girls delivered them to Heartworks OC for distribution to those in need. "It feels really good to feed people," said one Girl Scout.
