Tribes Trail Today
Tribes Learning Community
March 2013

Greetings!

We received the following comment this week from a district leader who, just last year, made Tribes TLC a priority in his school community. We thought you would appreciate his words as much as we do...

We often speak about a District culture. I have been here 32 years. In those 32 years, I have never witnessed the excitement, common language and common goals that I have seen this year. I wanted you to know how appreciative we are of your support. These kinds of things do not just happen. You started the ripple and our trainers have turned it in to a "Tribal Wave".

Tribes Training of District Trainers
Tribes TLC Trainers
CenterSource Systems, LLC has designed a capacity building model for professional development so that
your district or school can have your own certified Tribes TLC® trainer. Tribes TLC trainers provide on-going training, coaching and support to teachers, administrators, resource personnel and parent community groups.

Those qualified to become licensed trainers attend an extensive Training of Trainers (TOT) session and receive quality training materials. A TOT is a five-day, 40-hour intensive course.

The purpose of the Tribes Training of District Trainers (TOT) is to train experienced teachers and administrators who have used the Tribes Learning Community process in their classrooms or administrative positions for at least one school calendar year, to train other teachers and administrators within their school districts.

To become a Certified Tribes Trainer for your school district,
please visit our TOT page and download your application today!

Schedule U.S. Summer Training Now & Save!

About TribesThe 24 hour Tribes TLC training fee is now only $290 per person! This reduced contract fee includes everything for your whole school training; 24 hours of professional development, books and materials for each participant, trainer compensation, and trainer travel expenses (if done over consecutive days). If your schedule necessitates having to split the training (i.e., the first two days, and then the last 2 days a month or so later), then additional travel expenses will be charged. There is a 20 person minimum.

Our experienced Staff Trainers will come to your school or program site to facilitate the 24 hour Basic (elementary), Middle School, or High School level training, each of which is accompanied by the relevant and age-appropriate Tribes book. Also available is a 2-day After School/ Youth Development training for para-professionals and support staff, as well as a series of 3 parent evenings. In year 2 or 3, there is an advanced Artistry for Learning training that incorporates more integration of curriculum and further development of Collegial Learning Communities. After one year of implementation, educators can apply to attend our Training of Trainers (TOT) to become Certified Tribes Trainers for your "district" or school organization. The trainer(s) can then train any schools in their "authorized area" (usually the district or educational organization) without a contract through CenterSource. This capacity-building model is very cost effective, and intensifies and sustains the use of the process by developing leadership and expertise from the "inside out."

I recently had a whirlwind trip to Chicago and Indianapolis, and it was all about the Tribes TLC process and SEL.

In Chicago, I co-presented Tribes to 30 consultants who represent 8 of the largest 200 districts in the U.S. You can read about the Collaborating Districts Initiative here.

There no longer is any doubt that the most effective and powerful way to achieve and sustain substantive school improvement is by building the capacity of "inside" school personnel to work together as a professional learning community.
