PTA PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Dear Stanley Parents,

Please plan to attend the last PTA General Meeting of the year this Friday, May 27th at 8:45 AM in the Stanley Library.  Everyone is welcome.  We will have coffee and refreshments, present the Honorary Service Awards, thank our volunteers and wrap up year-end business.  It will be a quick meeting and I hope to see you there.

Calling all parents!  We are in the process of evaluating our Hot Lunch program.  Please fill out the very short survey here even if you don't participate in the program.  Your feedback with be used to evaluate our current Hot Lunch program which will help us provide the best hot lunch experience in the future.

Thank you to another terrific group of volunteers!  If you see them around town or on campus, please thank them for their support.

Super Stanley Volunteers, Part 3:

Planner Design: Courtney Anderson
8th Grade Field Trip: Carey Starn
8th Grade Promotion Party: Paula Carter, Wendy Ciruli, Tina Frechman, Shannon Tague
Red Ribbon Week: Sarah Muren
Reflections Program: Dina Lattin, Darci Olson, Jenn Kline, Andi Botto
Reservoir Run: Leslie Lomond

Lastly, please vote on June 7th!  The Stanley PTA has endorsed
Measure C which would provide vital support and upgrades to our aging schools in the Lafayette school district.  Many other community members and organizations have endorsed as well.  If you are voting absentee, please mark YES on your ballot for Measure C and put it in the mail today.  Fact:  We, as parents, are notorious for being big supporters of bond measures and parcel taxes for our great schools, however, we tend to also have the worst voter turnout. Please vote because your vote counts!

See you at the International Concert and at Open House this Wednesday evening AND see you at the PTA General Meeting on Friday morning!

Kelly Mains
PTA President 2015-16

What is "Wildcat of the Week"?
Each week, one student from each grade level is chosen by a faculty committee and is selected as a Wildcat of the Week based on his/her academic efforts and demonstration of character as it relates to our Six Pillars - Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. These student role models will be further honored by participating in a special event at the end of the year. It is the intent of this award to encourage all students to demonstrate Stanley Spirit through positive character.

INDEPENDENT STUDY/ABSENCES
Each time your child misses school for any reason (sick, vacation, others) the Lafayette School District loses $51 per day in revenues from the state. Attendance in school is best for your child's education. If your child is ill, keep him/her home until well enough to return to school. If you must take your child on a trip for 5 days or more, please notify the office so that they may provide you with an Independent Study packet (please give the school at least 2 weeks notice for an Independent Study request) to help him/her keep up with schoolwork while away. Doing so is a WIN-WIN scenario. Your child keeps pace with the class and is considered PRESENT on those days (NOT ABSENT) for State funding purposes. However, for absences less than five days or absences greater than 5 days without a completed Independent Study, your child misses invaluable instruction time and the state withholds funding from the District at $51/day. The District strongly recommends that trips and vacations be scheduled during non-school days. Thank you!
