HOMEWORK HELP & MATH HELP
We have two wonderful options for extra homework help at Stanley. These programs are brought to you by the Stanley PTA!

Homework Help is a Drop In program that runs after school three days per week. In Homework Help, you will find a Grade Level Core or English teacher available to your student for extra help while they complete their homework assignments according to the following schedule:

6th Grade Homework Help: 3:00-4:00
Monday - Room 808 (Ms. Geritz)
Tuesday - Room 808 (Ms. Griffith)
Wednesday - Room 807 (Ms. Valvur)

7th Grade Homework Help: 3:00-4:00
Monday - Room 403 (Ms. Duchscherer)
Tuesday - Room 401 (Ms. Hevenor)
Wednesday - Room 401 (Ms. Hevenor)

8th Grade Homework Help: 3:00-4:00
Monday - Room 202 (Ms. Pledger)
Wednesday - Room 202 (Ms. Pledger)

In addition, we have Math Help at lunch and after school. In Math Help, Stanley's own math teachers make themselves available to answer student questions. At after school Math Help, there are two teachers in the room, roaming around and helping Stanley students according to the following schedule:

Lunch Math Help:
Monday - Room 209 (Mr. Ratto)
Wednesday - Room 208 (Ms. Mara)
Friday - Room 304 (Ms. Howard)

After School Math Help: 3:00 - 4:00
Tuesday - Room 303  (Ms. McGlothlen & Ms. Swerling)
Thursday -  Room 306 (Mr. Huntoon & Ms. Mara)

If your student is struggling to understand and complete his/her assignments, please send them to after school academic help!

WILDCATS OF THE WEEK

What is "Wildcat of the Week"?
Each week, one student from each grade level is chosen by a faculty committee and is selected as a Wildcat of the Week based on his/her academic efforts and demonstration of character as it relates to our Six Pillars - Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. These student role models will be further honored by participating in a special event at the end of the year. It is the intent of this award to encourage all students to demonstrate Stanley Spirit through positive character.

INDEPENDENT STUDY/ABSENCES
Each time your child misses school for any reason (sick, vacation, others) the Lafayette School District loses $51 per day in revenues from the state. Attendance in school is best for your child's education. If your child is ill, keep him/her home until well enough to return to school. If you must take your child on a trip for 5 days or more, please notify the office so that they may provide you with an Independent Study packet (please give the school at least 2 weeks notice for an Independent Study request) to help him/her keep up with schoolwork while away. Doing so is a WIN-WIN scenario. Your child keeps pace with the class and is considered PRESENT on those days (NOT ABSENT) for State funding purposes. However, for absences less than five days or absences greater than 5 days without a completed Independent Study, your child misses invaluable instruction time and the state withholds funding from the District at $51/day. The District strongly recommends that trips and vacations be scheduled during non-school days. Thank you!

Acalanes DramaDons Presents
The Curious Savage

Join the Acalanes DramaDons in their entertaining and comedic production of The Curious Savage, directed by Ed Meehan, Acalanes drama teacher.

The plot has delightful twists involving a widow who inherited millions of dollars from her husband and wants to use the money to help others realize their hopes and dreams.  Her grown-up stepchildren want the money for themselves and commit the widow to a "sanatorium" hoping to "bring her to her senses." Instead, the widow leads the self-serving stepchildren on a hilarious chase for the inheritance, while befriending the charming "guests" of the sanatorium. The story playfully highlights how, in a world that seems motivated by greed and dishonesty, the virtues of kindness and affection can prevail!

The production runs November 10, 12, 13 and 14 at 7:00 PM in the Acalanes Little Theatre.  Tickets are available in November during lunch at AHS or online at  ahsperformingarts.org . Limited ticket sales at the door.  Doors open at 6:30 PM.  Adults $12, Students and Seniors $7.  It is a night you won't want to miss!
