Learner of the Month: James Lewis
By Natalie French
Persistence, determination and goal-setting have been hallmarks of James Lewis' life.
While a young man, James demonstrated these virtues by focusing on his personal health. Diet and exercise took precedence, while academics temporarily took a back seat.
Q: You started tutoring for LVWCC in 2008; why did you decide to tutor?
A: I liked the idea; at the time, I had the vague idea that I might want to make a career change into teaching and thought I'd see what tutoring was like. It wasn't until I took the tutor training that I realized LVWCC tutored English as a second language, and that's what I was very interested in.
Tiffany Brown has a passion for educating and training adults. In fact, in 2011 she served as a tutor for LVWCC.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. She will receive her Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Development from Northeastern Illinois University in 2016.
As a part of her HR program, Tiffany will be conducting two research projects. She will be contacting our learners and tutors to ask for feedback on our program.
