Snow Plowing Recap

The City of Darien received 20 inches of snow during the 36 hour blizzard beginning on Saturday evening.  Our Municipal Service crew worked 12 shifts thru the night and into Monday keeping the streets clear.  All streets were open and passable by Monday Morning.  The crews continued work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to improve the streets and cul-de-sacs.  Our 22 miles of safety sidewalks began being cleared Sunday morning and into Monday morning, taking approximately 30 hours to completely clear out after many repeated plowing operations.  Crews continued to work with the additional snowfall on Tuesday.  After streets were again passable, crews continued work on cutting down sight hazard snow piles, and clearing closer to curbs and mailboxes.

A big thanks to our Municipal Service crew who worked tirelessly to complete the cleanup of the fifth largest snowfall in Chicago history!
