Suspicious Vehicle

The following information is being provided for your review. Please disseminate as you deem appropriate.
On Monday 10/6/2014 at about 5 P.M., the Darien Police were contacted by Eisenhower Jr. High School and advised that one of their 5th graders while running cross country on 71st street by Walden was approached by a male in a white van. The student heard the sliding side door open and a male voice ask if he wanted candy. The student did not turn to look at the vehicle or the driver, he just ran to catch up to the other runners and eventually told his coach about the incident. There was no physical contact with the student.
The vehicle was described as an older white van with only windows in the front, sliding side door, and squeaky brakes. There were no other witnesses to the incident. Darien Police checked the area and were not able to locate the vehicle. There will be increased police presence in the area.
Please remind your students to be aware of their surrounding as they walk to or from school. Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the police department.
