Scam Alert

The Darien Police received a report on Thursday, August 21 at approximately 2:30pm, whereby a resident in the 1000 block of Park Crest reported two males rang her door bell and advised they were from Comcast and were placing cable in the back yard. The resident told the subjects they were not allowed in her yard. The subjects left the area in a white pickup truck.

The males were described as 30-40 years in age, both wearing a neon green t-shirt with Comcast logo. One male was heavy set in weight and the other male was thin. No other description available.

Comcast was contacted and confirmed there were no repair crews in the area.

If you have anyone knock on your door unannounced seeking to do repair work, asking to gain entry to your residence to check utilities, or asking you to step outside to inspect another portion of your property, do not allow anyone entry that you have not personally contacted to arrange service. These types of scams are focused on keeping the resident distracted while another subject will enter the home and steal valuables.

Contact the Darien Police by calling 9-1-1 if you see suspicious activity. We will come out and verify repair work or identity.
