Warming & Rain Increases Flood Risk

Temperatures have risen and the forecast is calling for about 3/4" inch of rain on Thursday. These snow melting conditions increase the likelihood of flooding. City crews are currently clearing snow packed storm sewer drains.

Here are few things you can do to help reduce flood risk to your property:

Make sure downspouts are free of any ice.
Make sure your sump pump is ice free and is able to discharge without any restrictions/obstructions.
Check the battery on your back up sump pump to make sure it is properly charged.
Clear the storm sewer drains near your property, if you're physically able to do so.
Call Public Works at 630-353-8105, between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, if you notice excessive water pooling on the roadway. Please call 911 after business hours.
