Drivers Urged to be Aware of Deer |
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County urges drivers to slow down and stay alert to avoid deer-vehicle collisions this fall. Accidents can occur at any time, but autumn - when deer are breeding, or "in rut" - is the most dangerous as they become more active and cross roads and highways more frequently. They're common along woods, fields, fencerows and waterways, but drivers can encounter them almost anywhere. Drivers are encouraged to be extremely cautious at dawn and dusk when deer are most active and visibility is poor and slow down when approaching deer. Deer often travel in groups, so if you see one, expect that there are more. For more information click here. |

On Saturday, November 30th from 9am to Noon bring the liquid in its original container, milk jug or bucket to any of these listed locations. Collected oil will be turned into clean burning biofuels!
*One in twenty households will fry their Thanksgivng turkey using five gallons of cooking oil. Pouring used grease down the drain causes clogs and breaks in the sewer system and just one gallon of cooking oil can contaminate one million gallons of water! |
