CITY NEWS
Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday
Daylight savings time begins this Sunday, November 3.  Remember to "Fall Behind" by turning your clocks back one hour.

Our Fire Districts also remind people to make another change that could save their lives - change your smoke alarm and CO Detector batteries. Changing these batteries twice a year is the simplest and most effective way to reduce tragic deaths and injuries. After you change the battery, make sure you test it to ensure the alarm is working properly.

VFW Post 2838 will hold their annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Community park, November 11th at 11:00a.m.

Free Fall Leaf Pickup

The City of Darien Free Fall Leaf Pickup runs thru November 29, on your normal garbage day.   Leaves should be placed in brown kraft yard waste bags or in plastic garbage cans.  If garbage cans are used they must have a permanent "YARD WASTE ONLY" label attached to the front of the can so the driver can identify it as leaf pickup.  These labels are available free of charge at city hall.  Residents are not permitted to rake leaves into the street. Raking leaves into the street can cause serious local flooding for you and your neighbors. For more information please call 630-852-5000.

Residential Burglaries & Burglary Tip Line

The City of Darien has experienced a recent increase in residential burglaries.  The Police Department is encouraging residents to dial 911 if they notice anything suspicious in your neighborhood. This can include vehicles that do not look familiar to the neighborhood or suspicious people walking around.

The Darien Police Department has created an e-mail tip line for anyone to forward a tip on the recent residential burglaries occurring in and around Darien.

The e-mail is:

catchaburglar@darienil.gov

We are seeking the communities input with any information they may hear about. This can include observing a suspicious person or vehicle in the neighborhood, someone knocking on homeowners doors with suspicious conversations such as asking about addresses or names of people who do not live at the house. Students are another good source of information. Students may hear about a recent crime while at school. This would be information the Darien Police would like to hear about.

This tip line is not monitored 24-hours. If you have a police related matter, wish to talk to an officer, or have a crime in progress, DIAL 911.

In addition to the new e-mail tip line, the Darien Police has a phone tip line which messages can be left on voicemail. This number is 630-353-8150.

We look forward to working with our residents to keep our community safe.
