December 31, 2015

This past month I dedicated a few days to rest and rejuvenation. I knew clearly it was time to not do and I wanted to listen inwardly. I asked for guidance with my teaching, as I have felt for a couple of months that there is change around the corner, but I didn't know what. When there is much going on in our every day lives it can be difficult to hear that inner voice of knowledge, so I took the time off from teaching and body work.

I received an immediate answer, as I was able to be still and listen in. I am deeply grateful for this guidance, this inspiration, and look forward to bringing some small but important changes to my classes this year. I don't know exactly what the changes will be, I can't know really, until I get there. But I do know this much, there will be more time in still and quiet practice. In other words, there will be more use of restorative postures, breathing practice, Savasana and seated meditation in all my classes.

There is no reason to worry that it will all be different, it will not. But the timing will be different as I will explore how to share the deeper spiritual parts of the practice.
I am both excited and curious myself about this upcoming change, and I very much look forward to sharing it with those of you who come to class.

Ready to try Medical Qigong?

Nyack's own Nancy Fisher,  Lic. Acupuncturist will be guiding us in Chinese Medical School of Yijin Jing style of Qigong that help us prevent and treat diseases.

According to Chinese Medicine the tendons and the acupuncture meridians (pathways)
are closely related. When a tendon is diseased or stagnated the meridian will be as well.  As you work with the tendons hence the meridians, the Qi (energy) and the Blood that move through the organs flow more freely, and your organs and their systems become healthier.

With consistent practice you will see benefits including aiding in the healing of all forms of lung, heart and breast disease to mention just a few. A deeper aspect of the practice reveals that as you move your tendons in the exercises you also break through that barrier of releasing what Chinese medicine calls Yang Qi, which for the Masters of this art form meant breaking into the spiritual realm dissolving body and mind.

Stay tuned for date and time!

In January I will offer 4 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes and 5 Friday, Saturday and Sunday classes.

There are no cancelled classes this month.

Remember that my Friday morning class has open spots and that you are welcome to drop in for make-ups at any time. It is suitable for all levels of practitioners.

Petrina is taking a winter sabbatical and will be back in the spring teaching her Wednesday  morning class.

I wish you a New Year filled with joy, peace and love,

Lena

The Lotus Flower

The Lotus is one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. It has its roots in the mud, at the bottom of streams and ponds, but rises to bloom above the water without becoming wet or tainted by the mire below. It symbolically represents being fully grounded in earth, yet aspiring towards the divine. For thousands of years the Lotus has symbolized spiritual growth and self realization.
