Acknowledge your feelings
Nervous, uneasy, awkward, embarrassed are a few of the authentic emotions or feelings that can turn everyday encounters into non-productive, anxious moments. It's common (and valid) to question, doubt and on occasion "fear" our ability to network effectively, whether it's building rapport, meeting new contacts, or reaching out for help. Realizing and acknowledging that our feelings affect our actions and taking the time to identify and understand what is causing them can go a long way toward learning how to control and neutralize these barriers to networking. |
