Video Camera Drones

We thought we would start the year with a look at some very innovative developments in how you may video your practice and training sessions and share them with your players or coaches without breaking the bank.

Some of the biggest problems of videoing sessions are:

  • How to get enough height for the shot to capture what I want to highlight to the players/coaches
  • How can they view their performance as part of the overall coaching session without disrupting the flow of the session i.e. how to integrate video feedback in to the session

Why not therefore use inexpensive video camera drones which can 'hover ' above your session, video action and send the pictures to an I Pad at ground level ?

Here are some of the products on sale:

And here some examples of the drones in action

The opportunities here are endless - for example students on coaching courses can see their session immediately after they have delivered it

An advocate for the use of the drone for top down video footage is the Jarrod Robinson. Look at his website http://thepegeek.com . He recommends using a video drone with a delay relayed to an I Pad on a tripod

As you can see this is not Science Fiction. It is not even Rocket Science.

Many of the students I have had on Coach Education courses in the past would feel I 'droned on' but seriously we would be really interested to feature the first soccer coach who uses a Drone. Let me know at rrussell@sportspath.com

Soccer Diet : Recovery

I was fortunate to facilitate the questions for my colleague Professor Jay Williams for his presentation at the NSCAA Convention on recovery diet.  It was a full house and NSCAA provided live video recording (via Google Hangouts) for the rest of the world. I know people who watched in live in London, Israel and Australia. We had with some very good questions from the audience and from the Twitter feed from around the world .If you weren't able to attend, a recording of his presentation can be foundHERE. Also, the PowerPoint slides that I used can be found HERE.
