December Newsletter

The 2nd Annual Meeting of Harmony Fellowship will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013, immediately following the service. We know all have busy lives but hope everyone will stay. We will be respectful of your time and keep the meeting to 1 hour.

As a reminder, everyone is welcome to stay but only members vote and get to have input unless otherwise agreed upon according to the by-laws.

There will be a brief review of this past year and then all will hear about potential happenings for 2014. A budget for 2014 will be presented, discussed and voted upon.

We, also, will need to vote on the new Board of Directors. Below are the 9 nominees to fill 8 positions. The Nominating Committee decided on 2 questions to be answered by each nominee.

Harmony Fellowship's Christmas Project

We are again adopting families and individuals from the Safe Haven of Tarrant County, our women's shelter.

These families are completely starting over. When they leave their abusive environment, they leave with nothing. One little girl who was living at Safe Haven created a book cover for her journal calling it "Safe Heaven"-think about it?

There are 4 ways to help

  1. Sign up to adopt a family or an individual(s) in the family. This means that you make the commitment to shop for the people that you adopt.
  2. Contribute items ie vacuum cleaners, pots and pans, cleaning tools. Everything must be new
  3. Contribute financially
  4. Volunteer to shop for the families or individuals.

Lillian Greenslade has graciously offered to head this project up.

The lists are on the entry table on Sunday along with a volunteer sheet for shopping. The gifts will be delivered unwrapped-it will be helpful to the families if we send wrapping paper with the gifts-our understanding is that the moms wrap the kids gifts and those kids that are able wrap mom's gifts.

If you want to make a financial contribution you may place it in the offering--please mark it--families, or give it to Lillian, Joe or Rebecca , contribute online www.harmonyfellowshipoffortworth.org or mail it to:

Integrity was instilled in me at a very early age. Integrity was and is a required family value. To me integrity includes my word-if I say I will do something, I do it. It includes respect for other's property, keeping confidences, respect for other's time-be where you say at the appointed time. Just be me-not pretend to be something I am not.

What specific talents, skills or gifts do you have that would benefit Harmony Fellowship by your membership on the Board?

Organization skills somewhat in-born. 25 years in Human Resource management. Successful introductions of new programs, policies, processes and skills for corporations. Good listening skills. Jodie Payne PAYNE, WILLIS M. JR 'JODIE'

Choosing one of the above shown six principles of Harmony Fellowship state how you demonstrate that in your life.

I try to practice each principle and be aware of their necessity. Integrity is most meaningful. I am what I am and I stand by my words and my pledge to be forthcoming in all avenues of my life. My word is my bond.

What specific talents, skills or gifts do you have that would benefit Harmony Fellowship by your membership on the Board?

I have managed people my entire adult life within my profession. Have also served on several church boards and YMCA board. My gift is my time to make anything possible better in my spiritual practices.

PHILLIPS, ROBIN

Choosing one of the above shown six principles of Harmony Fellowship state how you demonstrate that in your life

Inclusiveness is a word I live by. I am the first one to welcome anyone new into my home or work life. I accept everyone for who they are and don't question or judge how they live their lives...and encourage this same behavior in others.

What specific talents, skills or gifts do you have that would benefit Harmony Fellowship by your membership on the Board?

Specifically, bringing younger people and families to Harmony! Perhaps I can help with our attractiveness to the younger folk.

SIKMA, BARBARA

Choosing one of the above shown six principles of Harmony Fellowship state how you demonstrate that in your life.

Compassion - Prayer, Listening, Chaplaincy, Caring are always important in my mind, soul and I hope, demonstration.

What specific talents, skills or gifts do you have that would benefit Harmony Fellowship by your membership on the Board?

I was an employee of a unity church for 8 years and since Harmony has no staff I am aware of procedures and what needs to be done in a church. I am a graphic designer and do the newsletter, bulletin, and website. Being on the board keeps me aware of all that is happening and how we can let people know about it.

SULLIVAN, INGRID

Choosing one of the above shown six principles of Harmony Fellowship state how you demonstrate that in your life.

I work very hard to make sure that my word, work and any interaction with those I am involved with at Harmony or any community I belong to comes from a place of integrity. I want people to know that I can be counted on and will at all times look from a mindset of what is best for all involved meaning I may have to set my own agenda aside for the good of the community. Integrity does not get practiced enough in many outside venues and I feel it is my duty to come from a place of love and integrity with those in my Harmony family.

What specific talents, skills or gifts do you have that would benefit Harmony Fellowship by your membership on the Board?

I enjoy being a part of the Harmony family in such a way that I am always looking for a place to participate. Helping and being involved brings me so much joy. I particularly enjoy seeking out additional talent to bring a service to Harmony in the way of world religion or from someone that is of the like mind of the Harmony community. I know that taking the time to be in worship on a Sunday is very important to everyone that I strive to find someone of interest with a topic that conforms to the Harmony principles.

TIERNAN, J C M - CARTER

Choosing one of the above shown six principles of Harmony Fellowship state how you demonstrate that in your life.

Inclusiveness is a principle that resonates strongly with me especially in my work. I work with UTA students from all over the world - different cultures, religions, expectations, etc. I try to be conscious in how I behave and in what I expect and to be respectful of different ways of viewing the world. While it is not appropriate for me to discuss spirituality in my classroom, I do have the opportunity in my office, sometimes, of asking students about their backgrounds and having them share beliefs and values with me that differ from mine. I strive to demonstrate our principles in my life which means to me that I should be open to all ways of viewing life and the world and that, when asked, I share my belief in a positive, practical spirituality. From these discussions, I have close friendships with Muslims, Hindus, and others and have learned much from them."

What specific talents, skills or gifts do you have that would benefit Harmony Fellowship by your membership on the Board?

I have some talent as a servant leader and can share that as a board member working with the fellowship. I can assist in many tasks and am willing to serve as needed including computer support, recording information, and other ways. I am able to support HF financially and do so.

I bring to the board my knowledge of people who are college-age and high school students and how we might serve that population and share with them the insights that we have as followers of new thought and members of HF."

THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS

The metaphysical meaning of Christmas is love.  It is that simple and that infinite.  I tell you this in the beginning so that you will keep this thought while we try to understand more deeply this mystery called Christmas.

Examine this. What destiny brought you here to understand a little more completely this personal gift of Christmas?  This was intended by the soul we know as Jesus the Christ to be a personal revelation to each of you.   Christ came into this world as the incarnation of Christmas time to make the human consciousness - to use a modern word - RADIOACTIVE.  The power to send out the energy of the soul for a positive purpose is radioactive.  The sum total of this energy is love - the message to us is to be the personification of love.  To exude it, to use it, and to manifest God in the earth.

Christmas is not just an event on the calendar.  It is something that takes the individual and determines the nature and course of his life.  It is the quality of the soul and the power of the soul.  This response is brought to us in many ways by the symbols of this time of the year and by the Christmas story.  Whether or not we recognize this as so, it is so.  Universal symbols go beyond the intellect and act on every man through the power of the super conscious.   So it is at Christmas that we celebrate the first moment of the consciousness of the soul.  This "radioactive" thing must be done in the soul.

It is the essence of illumination when a person can find himself aware to some degree outside of his ordinary experience.  Then it is said that he has been illumined.  This is where your destiny has brought you.  Every Christmas you are prompted by the Holy Birth, the beautiful lights, the symbol of gifts, the tree of life, the abundance of delights to follow this destiny to become illumined.

Since this experience was meant to be a personal experience, think of this as a dream, a dream full of symbols that you remember forever and ever.  Begin to interpret the dream as your symbolic guide to your own illumination.

Have a blessed Christmas

Rev. Glenn Moore & Pat Moore
