RightTree
The Right Tree for the Right Location

Tree screen

As we get closer to fall, nursery's and home improvement stores will have an abundance of trees for sale. Sugar maples, bradford pears, magnolia, birch, etc. are all beautiful trees, but which one is the right tree for your landscape? Before making your purchase, consider these important items:

What are you looking for in a tree?

Do you want to add color to your landscape with a spring flowering tree or are you looking for a tree that provides color in the fall? Perhaps you want a screen to offer privacy from your neighbors or provide shade to your home.

Where will you plant the tree?

If you are looking for a tree to add shade to your yard, you will want to make sure that you do not plant it too close to the house. Trees need room to grow and expand. Planting too close to your home allows branches to rub against the house and roof, and roots to make contact with your foundation.

How tall will the tree get at the height of its maturity?

Evaluate the proposed planting site to make sure that the tree canopy has room to expand and there are no overhead power lines nearby.

How fast will it grow?

How fast the tree will grow depends on the tree species and the environment. Willow, cypress, poplar and maple are a fast growing and low maintenance trees. For a slow growing shade tree, choose oak, linden or a locust shademaster.

There are hundreds of tree varieties to choose from. Are you looking to enhance your property but not sure which tree is best for your landscape? Contact the experts at Arbor Masters® and find the right tree for the right location!

FallFertThe Benefits of Fall Fertilization
Fall tree fertilization

During the summer, excessive heat, poor soil quality, lack of moisture and other environmental issues can rob your trees of valuable nutrients. A fall fertilization can provide trees with valuable nutrients to sustain them during the winter and promote new growth in the spring. A fertilized tree is less prone to stress and is better able to resist insects and disease in the spring.

Your tree care experts at Arbor Masters® can recommend a fertilization program designed to add vital nutrients and enhance the beauty of your trees. Contact the fertilization specialists today for your free estimate.

      Fall leaves

It is just about time for trees to start changing color. Maples, bald cypress, and sweet gums are just a few of the trees whose leaves will start changing color as we move into fall.

There are many factors that play a role in the changing of the color of the leaves, from lack of rain or too much rain, changes in the temperature, to how quickly the chlorophyll (the green pigment in leaves) begins to break down at the end of the growing season. All of these factors contribute to the vivid colors that pepper trees throughout the area.

If, however, your tree leaves go from green to brown and drop prematurely, it may be an indication that the tree is stressed or suffering from insect or disease issues. In addition, stress can occur as a result of the hot summer temperatures and lack of moisture.

If you notice that your trees are dropping their leaves too quickly, contact Arbor Masters® for an evaluation to make sure your trees are healthy.
