Kansas City Storms |
Area trees could not withstand the 70mph straight line winds which tore through the Kansas City Metro area this past weekend. Large tree limbs and trees fell on homes, fences and cars causing extensive damage.
Mark Cantrell, Arbor Masters® Tree Division Manager spoke with Kansas City Channel 41 News regarding the recent storms. Routine maintenance and evaluation of trees is key to diminishing future storm damage.

The Fungus Among Us! | |
Have you noticed premature browning of leaves on your Oaks, Birch, Walnut, Ash, Sycamore or Maple trees? Due in part to the wet cool spring, your trees may be suffering from Anthracnose or Septoria. This fungus can attack trees and cause premature loss of leaves, dieback on smaller branches and leaves and premature leaf drop. This disease affects a wide variety of tree species and treatments may vary depending on the type of tree. The best prescription for these types of fungus is a systemic fungicide application. Depending on the size and species of the tree, the treatment can be injected directly into the tree or sprayed into the canopy of the tree. These treatments should be applied by a certified applicator to ensure it is done effectively and correctly. Are your trees at risk? Contact the disease and insect experts at Arbor Masters® for a free evaluation.

Grubs and Weeds: Lawns Worst Enemies
| |
Homeowners know that controlling grubs, weeds and fungus that invade their lawn can be a challenge. During the summer months, grubs can be especially harmful to your lawn. Grubs destroy lawns by feeding on the roots of grasses, causing the grass to brown and die. Unfortunately, by the time homeowners discover they have a grub problem, the damage to their lawn is already done. While grubs do not discriminate against grass varieties, they are sun seekers and rarely attack shady lawns.

Arbor Masters in Your Community
|
Arbor Masters® came to the aid of the Kansas City Rescue Mission Women's Shelter in Kansas City, MO. The recently completed shelter was unable to open their doors due to the lack of funds to complete their landscape. In order to obtain their occupancy permit, they needed sod to finish their landscape. Pat Pinkerton, Landscape Division Manager, heard about their dilemma from the Sunday Fox 4 News cast and offered to donate and install the desperately needed sod. The sod was provided by L.C. Briggs Turf Farm.
The project was completed June 13th, allowing the shelter to continue with its plans to open and provide valuable aid and assistance to women in the Kansas City area.
