Students are Thankful for Scholarship Support

Words can't express our gratitude. The generosity of donors like you has made it possible for my wife Erica and me to attend school while raising our family. Carter is almost three and by the time you read this, our second son Micah will be here.

Our education, like so many other students, will affect us and our families for the rest of our lives. So thank you for all that you do for SOU.

School of Education receives $274,000 Gift from the Ernest H. and Madge Bearss Trust

Madge Frances Mitchell Bearss grew up in Ashland, Oregon receiving a teaching degree from Southern Oregon Normal School in 1929. Madge taught mostly second graders throughout several regions of Oregon and retired after 46 years of teaching in 1983. She married Colonel Ernest Bearss in 1987. Countless SOU students will benefit from this generous gift.

We are thankful for the amazing students that inspire us to do what we do at SOU. Thank you for being part of our journey and for all of your support.

Happy Holidays!

SOU Softball Team Gives Back to CASA

Children who are serviced by the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Jackson County will have a little more holiday cheer this year, thanks to the SOU Softball team. Each of the eighteen team members and the two coaches selected a name from the tree to give a gift, along with several others in the athletic department.

Coach Kim Fritts suggested the idea last year and the team embraced the opportunity to give back. "We go to the CASA building the day they give the gifts out and help wrap them for the families that have the kids in their homes," say Coach Fritts."My team and I know that we are very privileged and want to give back to those in need. I am always very proud of my girls."
