FAFSA Filing Information

Tax season is upon us and it's time to take action! We also have some scholarship reminders for you.

1098T Tuition Tax Statements - For Educational Tax Benefits

The due date for your 1098T Tuition Statement to be available to you, or postmarked if being mailed, is February 1st. We are working to have forms accessible online before that date but, due to the overlap of start of term and tax season, we do not anticipate being able to mail statements earlier than the deadline.

Sign up now to receive your 1098T online or visit our information page to find out more about your potential tax benefits.

We strongly recommend that you opt in to online access if you have trouble with mail delivery or if you want the fastest possible access to your form. Just  click here and log in if you are not already logged in. Then select Account Inquiry and choose the Account Services tab. Then "Grant Consent." You only have to opt in once.

When your tax form is available, you will find a hyper link to it in MYGFU in the same location where you granted consent. You can then simply download the pdf and forward it to whomever is appropriate. The pdf will have your SSN masked, if you are concerned about emailing the document.

No SSN or ITIN on your GFU Record?

If you have not given GFU your SSN, which these days is often referred to as an ITIN, Individual Tax Identification Number, the law requires that you furnish this information. Please return the GFU version of IRS FORM W-9s to Student Accounts ASAP!  This same form is used to let us know that you don't have an SSN/ITIN. Whatever the reason for not giving us your SSN, you must return to us a signed W-9s.

Traditional Undergraduate Scholarship Deadline

Reminder! The scholarship application process ends tomorrow, January 27th at 5:00 pm. (Firm Deadline!) If you haven't done so already, please log into MYGFU and check under "Student Resources" to find the link. Don't miss this opportunity for additional funding to help pay for school next year.

Possible Additional Funds for Spring 2016

Looking for a way to bridge the gap between your financial aid and your balance due? Students that have advanced from freshman to sophomore or, sophomore to junior, between fall and spring semesters may be eligible to receive an increase to their Federal Stafford loan. If this is the case and you are interested in the increase, please contact your Financial Aid Counselor right away. The average increase is $1000 but can be more.
