4 days of fun, food and festivities brought crowds to Main Street Grapevine for the 29th Annual GRAPEFEST ... A Wine Experience.

Bank Chairman and Vice Chairman recognized as Power Couple by American Banker
|
Cynthia L. Blankenship, Vice Chairman/COO and H. Gary Blankenship Chairman,
Bank of the West
|
When Gary and Cynthia Blankenship couldn't get an ownership stake in a local bank, they decided to strike out on their own, founding Bank of the West in Grapevine, Texas, on April 1, 1986. Gary is chairman and CEO of the $405 million-asset bank , and Cynthia is vice chairman and COO.
The fact the couple opened a bank on April Fools Day isn't lost on the Blankenships. It broke even its first year amid the Texas banking crisis, and it has never posted an annual loss, not even during the more recent financial crisis, according to Cynthia.
"People ask me, "How have you been able to work together 30 years? I tell them that at work, it's a partnership. We really respect each other's opinions and expertise." Cynthia said.

SBA Preferred Lender News
Bank of the West is proud to report that we ended the year as one of the top ten SBA Lenders in the Dallas district. This is calculated in both the large and small bank categories.
Bank of the West was 10th overall out of a total of 150 SBA lenders in the district and provided $24,569,000.00 in SBA 7a loans and approximately $4,600,000.00 in SBA 504 loans. For the first time in history, the Dallas district crossed the $1 Billion mark in loans processed as of September 31, 2015; the close of business for the federal fiscal year.
The Dallas-Fort Worth district benefited from the confidence in the small business growth in the past month.
Bank of the West is encouraged by the continued and steady growth of its SBA lending program and looks forward to another strong year for 2016.

End-of-Year Charitable Giving
As both the holidays and end of the year draw closer, it always seems that requests for charitable donations increase. Be it the Salvation Army Santa outside of the grocery store or a call from your favorite charity that you give annually, there is a push for giving in the last few weeks of the year. This is most likely attributed to the fact that we are more inclined to help those less fortunate and causes we care about during the holiday season.
In addition to feeling good about helping others, this year-end generosity can pay off months later at tax time if you follow Internal Revenue Service rules on tax deductions.
Attached are a few tips to help turn these donations into tax savings.
