President's Message
Becky Malenke, P.E.
ALSITE President

Shortly after graduating from college, I began attending ALSITE meetings and was so impressed that I set a goal to one day run for office.  It's hard to believe that I'm now writing to you as ALSITE President!  I am truly honored to serve in this capacity and am proud of all that ALSITE represents.  Scott Holladay has done a great job leading us in 2012 and I hope I can continue to follow the example that he has set.

I hope you are planning to join us in Anniston for our Spring Meeting on March 7th.  Scott and I were given a sneak preview of the museum and I can assure you that it is worth seeing.  Greg Dawkins has a great technical program lined up, and we will be showcasing our Second Annual Student Traffic Bowl Preliminary Competition during lunch.

Since our Fall meeting, ITE has required that all sections become tax exempt entities by December 2013.  The ALSITE Board decided to join the ITE Group Tax Exemption where ITE files the forms on our behalf.  The Board worked together to assemble the required paperwork, and we are pleased to report that it was submitted to ITE at the end of January.

The SDITE Meeting will be April 7-10 in Charlotte, NC.  June 5-7, we will return to the Beach Club in Gulf Shores for our Annual Meeting.  Our Fall Meeting will be a joint meeting with TSITE on October 17th at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville.  We also plan to offer another round of Leadership Training this year and I highly encourage you to participate.   It is applicable to all ages and professions and is a great way to interact with fellow ALSITE members while learning some valuable skills.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who has agreed to serve as a committee head or liaison for 2013.  One of the primary contributing factors to ALSITE's success is that such a large percentage of our membership is active in leadership.  I look forward to serving alongside you!
