Get Ready! Get Set! Get In! FREE Webinar Series with Top College Experts Starts This Week

Starting Your Journey
We've almost filled the house from coast to coast with parents, students, and counselors who registered for the first webinar in our new series, Starting Your Journey, which kicks off this Thursday, Feb. 6 at 9 p.m. ET. There are a few choice spaces still available to hear about the college journey LIVE from our two esteemed guests: Albuquerque Academy Dean of College Guidance, Ralph Figueroa, and Greenhill School Director of College Guidance Marie Bigham.

Figueroa is the past President of the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling, a former member of The Common Application Board of Directors, and sits on The Common Application Outreach Advisory Committee. As Associate Dean of Admission at Wesleyan University, Figueroa was the central figure in the New York Times bestseller, The Gatekeepers: Inside the Admissions Process of a Premier College.

Bigham is on the Board of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and serves as Vice Chair for the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools. She also spent seven years as Associate Director of Admissions at Washington University in St. Louis. Register here.

Inside the Admissions Office
Our March 6 webinar will feature James Cotter, Michigan State University's Director of Admissions, who will bring us inside the admissions office for insight into how admissions decisions are made. Register here.
Grades Still Matter Most in Admissions

A survey by the National Association for College Admission Counseling finds that grades matter most in admissions, while race, ethnicity, or first-generation status are of little or no importance. Read more about the State of College Admission 2013 report in this Head Count article by Chronicle of Higher Education reporter Eric Hoover.
