Angst over college rejection is nothing new. In 1968, Joan Didion penned On Being Unchosen by the College of One's Choice for The Saturday Evening Post. In the article, she reflected on the letter she received from Stanford back in 1952, which she pulled out 16 years later "as an object lesson for a 17-year-old cousin who is unable to eat or sleep as she waits to hear from what she keeps calling the colleges of her choice." |
