This is a great time to be on Cape Cod!
Many of your favorite stores are still open - and pretty much everything is on sale. Reservations are no longer a problem at the most popular places in town. Water temperatures are still in the low 60's and upper 50's.
The sun is still strong, the fishing is great, the waters are clear, and it's a perfect time to get in one more day on the Bay! |

What's the origin of the term "Starboard?"
Many ancient ships were steered with an oar on one side of the ship, rather than a centrally placed rudder. This steering oar was generally attached in a vertical attitude to the right side of the ship near the stern (with the right side chosen simply because most people are right handed). The term"starboard" comes from the Anglo-Saxon name for this side oar steering rig, "steorbord", which literally means "the side on which a vessel is steered".
Since the steering oar was mounted on the right side ships needed to be docked, or ported, on the left side.
