October can be a stormy month on Cape Cod. In fact, this week's forecast calls for heavy
wind and rains tomorrow right through the upcoming weekend. Because of life's distractions,
many of us have not visited our boats for a few weeks, so we urge you to check on your boat
and make some preparations to avoid damage to your boat and others.
In our experience, a boat's success in weathering a storm is dependent 50% upon luck, and
50% upon the skipper's preparation. The main things are to reduce windage and secure items which might become projectiles if they catch the wind ....

A Monday morning scramble. Open to everyone who knows how to hit a golf ball. Foursomes
mixing players of various abilities to even the teams as much as possible. 4-ball scramble
format. Then let 'em have at it to see who can go low.
First group tees off at 9:06AM. $75 per player includes a box lunch on the cart.

The Kingman Back Basin was dug out of an old cranberry bog, with the spoils used to fill in the area around the Chart Room and down to the Dockhouse. Above, the view from what is now Ramp #8 looking southwest toward the Lower Heads. When excavation was complete, the dike ion the area shown with pilings was broken to allow the water to flood the basin.
