BREAKING NEWS

Total Hockey Acquires
Players Bench

Total Hockey made big news with the acquisition of Players Bench in late June. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close over the next six months, weren't immediately disclosed.

It's the first acquisition for Total Hockey, which has 24 stores across the country, since it was founded by Michael Benoit, the company's president and CEO, in 1999.

The deal with Players Bench adds a handful of key markets - eight stores in Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas; Madison, Wisconsin; and Salt Lake City - to Total Hockey's footprint. Total Hockey already has stores in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington D.C.

The Players Bench stores will be rebranded as Total Hockey or Total Lacrosse. Click here to to read more.

in Suburban Chicago

Bauer announced it will occupy a new 250,000-square foot fulfillment center in the Chicago suburb of Romeoville. This will support Bauer Hockey's needs and product expansion opportunities.

OHL will also begin fulfillment operations for Maverik Lacrosse later this summer.

Hockey Dad, Engineer Develops Alternative to Hockey Tape

Lee Wright's frustration with hockey tape lasting only a couple of games for sticks led to his creation of Sniper Skin, a lightweight plastic sleeve that slides onto a hockey stick and shrinks instantly when it is run under hot water.

Wright said Sniper Skin can stay on for an entire season without a need for a replacement. Wright has sold more than 100 grips at $15.99 since opening an online store at sniperskin.ca. Grips have also been created for baseball bats and lacrosse sticks.
