Day of Excellence: 2/15
In recognition of our high school being the top-performing school in Colorado (for the 6th consecutive year) based on CSAP/TCAP scores, the CMCA School Board has approved a day off in celebration of this excellence.
The Celebration of Excellence Day will take place on Friday, February 15, 2013, and all students (K-12) and staff will have that day off. |

Colorado State Free Throw Shooting Contest
The Vanguard School will be hosting the first round of the Colorado State Free Throw Shooting Contest on Saturday, February 2, from 9-10:30am in the Vanguard Gym. Boys are girls ages 10-14 are eligible to participate and must bring proof of age (birth certificate or passport). Awards will be given in each age category and gender. Winners have the opportunity to move on in the State contest later in February. |

Free Dental Care
The Colorado Springs Dental Society and the Colorado Dental Association are sponsoring a free dental care week, beginning February 4, for uninsured children under 17 years of age. For more information, visit

Infinite Campus Parent Communication
Grades 7-12 will begin using additional features within Infinite Campus to communicate with families about student academic progress. Beginning Monday, February 4th, a daily automated email will be sent to families with children who received a failing grade on an assignment. Also beginning on Monday, February 4th, an automated email will be sent on progress report dates to families with children who have a D or and F in a course. These notifications will also appear in your Infinite Campus Portal account. Families can add or update their email addresses in Infinite Campus by contacting the front office secretary (Debbie.gard@cmca12.com in the junior high and Katie.eads@cmca12.com in the high school). |
Athletic Information Meeting
The Vanguard School will be holding an athletic information meeting to discuss more about high school and college athletics as well as to address any questions families may have. Families with students in grades 6-12 are welcome to attend! The athletic information meeting is on Wednesday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafetorium. Athletic Director, Dina Fuqua, will be there to answer your questions about 3A sports at Vanguard as well as about Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 sports in college. Other topics will include criteria and competition for college academic and athletic scholarships as well as what Vanguard has to offer your child in athletics and how academics will play a part in determining if your child can get athletic scholarships in college. |
Vanguard's Referral Incentive Program
 The Vanguard School offers a referral incentive program to families that promote our high school! For every new student that shadows at The Vanguard School the referring family will receive a $25 gift card.
Shadow Days can be scheduled by contacting Mrs. Eads at the High School Front Office.

Lacrosse Clinic
There will be a Lacrosse Clinic for boys and girls in Grades 5-8. It will be located in the Vanguard Gym on Friday, February 8th, from 1:30-3:00pm. Equipment will be provided. |
