Montelucia

With much of the country shivering this time of year, it is hard to imagine in just over five short months you could be poolside in Phoenix, celebrating 25 years of AWSM.

The latest news and information will be coming to your inbox starting Jan. 20, exactly five months from the convention's opening. The #AWSM13 e-newsletter will bring you details on registration, panels, speakers and special events.

This special e-newsletter will also take you on a trip down memory lane as we celebrate a quarter-century of AWSM.

Mark your calendars, and see you in Phoenix!

Search Party

Calling all AWSM members: we need your help with a project we are working on in honor of the upcoming 25th anniversary convention.

Throughout the past 25 years, nearly 130 women have been awarded internships and scholarships through AWSM. We still have current information for 100 of those women, but are looking to get back in touch with the other 30. If you have any contact information for the following women or even any tips on where their careers have taken them, please e-mail search committee chair

Stacy Hicklin

We have added the year they were interns and their respective colleges if we have that information available.

Gerstner in Brazil

Joanne Gerstner spent the first week of December in Sao Paulo, Brazil on an official trip with the Knight-Wallace Fellowship program at the University of Michigan.

The visit included a tour of the construction site for one of the stadiums being built for the 2013 men's World Cup.

Gerstner also met Mariana Lajolo, the deputy sports editor of Folha de Sao Paulo, the largest newspaper in Brazil. She is the only woman in sports management, having moved up from serving as the paper's Olympics sports writer.

Said Gerstner: "We talked a lot about the state of women in sports media, and found a lot of common issues in Brazil and the U.S." Read more.
