Register Now: Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion Series
The Great Decisions foreign policy discussion series returns to the  Library from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, on eight Wednesdays from February 24 to April 13.discussion Each meeting begins with a short topical documentary featuring international experts, followed by a lively group discussion. Participants receive a briefing book with background information and thought-provoking topical questions. Participation is free.

Sponsored by Friends of the Blue Hill Library, now for the tenth year, Great Decisions is a nation-wide discussion series created by the Foreign Policy Association (http://www.fpa.org).  This year's topics are: Shifting Alliances in the Middle East, The Rise of ISIS, The Future of Kurdistan, International Migration, Korean Choices, The United Nations Post-2015, Climate Geopolitics, and Cuba and the U.S. The discussions will be led by Ann Humphrey and Aaron Glazer.

Enrollment is limited to the first 20 participants.  Participants may register using the Library's interactive calendar or by calling the Library at 374-5515. 
Film: The Last Picture Show (1971)
The Friends of the Library film series will continue with the film The Last Picture Show (1971) on Thursday February 11 at 7:00 PM.film The film, starring Timothy Bottoms, Jeff Bridges and Cybill Shepherd, and directed by Peter Bogdanovich, is a coming-of-age story about two teenage boys in a small, declining town in Texas. It is based on a 1966 novel of the same name by Larry McMurtry, and is shot in black & white.

Pick-Up Chess: Thursdays 5-8:30
Known to boost IQ, improve memory, and stimulate creativity, Chess is the game of Kings and the King of games. Stop by the library on Thursdays,  5:30 to 8:00 PM.chess if you would like to test your wits against another Chess enthusiast. All levels of expertise are welcome. No registration is necessary. Chess boards are supplied by the Library.
Book Sale This Saturday!
The Friends of the Library will hold their monthly book sale THIS SATURDAY! February 6 in the Library's basement "book nook" from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.sale The word from the Friends is that there are a lot of new titles, and cookbooks will be half price! Special mini- collections include William Blake, bicycle touring and adventure, welding, and wood-working. Each child who comes may select a free book!

The Friends wish to thank the many donors who keep the library supplied with quality book donations.  Book sale proceeds enable the Friends to sponsor many of the programs offered at the library, and to make special purchases of books, dvds, etc., and equipment for the library. To donate books that are in good condition or for more information, contact the Library at 374-5515.

52 Weeks of Giving: Book Recommendations
All ages of kids are invited to meet on Fridays, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, to do fun volunteer projects.giving Last Friday the project was for each child to pick out a favorite book and write a note to put into it for the next patron, telling why s/he likes it so much.
