  • The public is invited to participate in the Library's Play Reading Group TOMORROW! WEDNESDAY, December 16 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. This month the group will read
    Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. No experience necessary!
  • Local author and private investigator Stephen Pickering will read from and discuss his new crime fiction novel, Bad Moon Rising, THIS THURSDAY!, December 17 at 7:00 PM. More info here.

Holiday Party This Saturday!
The public is invited to the annual Friends of the Library Holiday Party THIS SATURDAY!, December 19, from 2:30 to 5:30 PM.PartyThis year's event will offer something for everyone! The entertainment will kick off at 2:45! Here's the schedule:

2:45-songs and stories from Noel Paul Stookey
3:05--music by the GSA "High Five" Varsity Jazz Combo.
3:30-- a fun dramatic reading of Dickens' A Christmas Carol
3:30-- magician Norman Ng: "magic that is far from the Norm"
4:30-- seasonal music with Ellacappella
4:45-- a special magic workshop with Norman Ng
5:00-- singing carols with Holly Bartlett Weinberg
Norman was a featured magician on the popular CW TV Show, Penn and Teller: Fool us.

Partygoers are asked to consider bringing a wrapped gift for a child, labeled with age and gender appropriateness. Gifts can be dropped off at the Library anytime through the day of the party. The gifts will be donated to the Tree of Life and The Emmaus Center where they will be distributed to families in need.

There will be the usual array of refreshments, cookies and more cookies. Anyone who would like to donate extra snacks or goodies-- it would be much appreciated.  The party is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  For more information call the Library on 374-5515.
Book Sale This Saturday!
Friends of the Library is holding a second December book sale THIS SATURDAY!, December 19 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. SaleThe sale will feature many new and like-new books, cds and dvds for gift giving to children and adults. There are books for everyone: cooks, poets, artisans and readers of all ages.
 
Hundreds of quality used books fill the shelves in the book nook in all categories for all ages-- and most books are just a dollar or two! Proceeds from book sales enable the Friends of the Library to continue providing special events and purchases for the library. To donate books that are in good condition or for more information, contact the Library at 374-5515.
Shorebird Carving: Raffle Tickets Available Now!
Local artist Jerry Cumbo has generously donated two of his beautiful, hand-carved curlew sculptures as a raffle fundraiser to support the library. (Curlews are a type of shorebird).Curlew Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20, and are available at the main circulation desk.  100% of the proceeds will support the Friends of the Library, and two lucky winners will each take home a beautiful work of local art.
 
The drawing will be on December 31 at the "Last Night" festivities. Until then the curlews will be on display downstairs in the Library's main room. Come check them out!
