to our direct-to-you library events newsletter!  Unless otherwise noted these events are free and open to everyone. Many of these free events are made possible by generous funding from the  Friends of the Blue Hill Library. If you like what you see, thank a Friend. Or better yet, become one!  Events This Week...
  • Join us for A Trio of Poets---Beatrix Gates, Lee Sharkey and Peter  Harris will read from their new books THIS THURSDAY! June 5, 6:00 PM.Events Books will be available for sale and signing.  Cosponsored by the Library and Blue Hill Books.
  • Kokeshi doll expert Dr. Jennifer McDowell and local artist Frederica Marshall are teaming up for a Japanese cultural program THIS SATURDAY June 5, 10:30 AM.  Dr. McDowell will do a presentation about the dolls and Frederica will lead a workshop in which participants will paint their own dolls on blank wooden forms. Open to all ages over 7. The event is free but registration is required, using the Library's online calendar or by calling 374-5515.
Book Sale This Saturday
The Friends the Library will hold their first-Saturday-of-the-month book sale THIS SATURDAY! June 7 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Library's basement "book nook."Sale This sale offers many hundreds of quality used books for all interests and for all ages at bargain prices-- most just a dollar or two.  Featured are books for all around the house-the living room, guest room, workshop, kitchen, etc.
 
The monthly book sales are organized by the Friends of the Blue Hill Library and dedicated volunteers, and are supported by very welcomed donations.  Proceeds from the sales enable the Friends to provide special programming and materials to the library and its patrons.  In addition to the first Saturday sales, there is an ongoing paperback sale on the second floor, available anytime the Library is open. To donate books that are in good condition or for more information, contact the Library at 374-5515.
Film: Remember the Night
Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck in Remember the Night.
     The Friends of the Library Film Series continues on Thursday, June 12 at 7:00 PM with Remember the Night (1940), directed by Mitchell Liesen and starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray.Film The film is a romantic comedy/ drama about a woman arrested for shoplifting that is ultimately proposed to by the attorney who is supposed to prosecute her.

All films are shown free of charge on the Library's "pretty big" screen in the Howard Room. The series occurs on the second Thursday of the month until summer.  For more information, call the Library (374-5515) or Michael Donahue, 374-5248 or Donahue.mg@gmail.com.

DesignThere are many works on exhibit In addition to the samples below, as well as a selection of draftsman tools. Our appreciation goes to Brooksville architect, Eric Chase, for organizing the show.
