If a June Night Could Talk...
It's true: a June night in Santa Barbara is glorious, and especially so in Downtown Santa Barbara. The sidewalks are thriving, shop doors are flung wide, outdoor dining tables are buzzing and the side streets and paseos are even more explore'able.
And, we're happy to report that the new edition of the Downtown Map & Guide is out, ready to direct you up and down and around State Street,
to help you find that hidden gem of a shop, restaurant or gallery!
Pick one up at the DSB office or nearly anywhere - this year's edition is
gorgeous!
Summertime in Downtown Santa Barbara is what we live for, and not only to wave at the colorful dancers, drummers, dreamers and huge puppets of the 2016 Summer Solstice Parade (Sat, June 25, noon). It is a celebration quite unique to Santa Barbara, so don't miss it - this one promises to be, in keeping with the "Legends" theme, well, legendary.
Want more for your Downtown SB Summertime To-Do List? Check out The Granada Theatre Summer Film Series! Comedies, classics, kids' movie, "The Breakfast Club" - in other words, a little something for everyone. But wait, there's more!
The Granada Theatre is pleased to extend a 10% discount for Downtown Santa Barbara members towards tickets to any of their Summer Film Series including "Comedy Tonight: The Films of Mel Brooks," "Summer Classic Series,"
and the family favorite "Reel Cool Summer Series," using promo code: SBDO2016.

And here's a July/August preview for your summer calendar: the free Movies at the Sunken Garden series, starting on Fridays in July. Bring your blanket or a low-back chair, a snack and some friends to enjoy this year's "Bogie & Bacall" run, starting Friday, July 8th. (See July's film schedule in "Upcoming Events" below.)
All that, plus all the rest of the fun, delights and deliciousness of Downtown SB will make for one packed summer...and it's only just begun.

Downtown Host Program - Up & Running!
It's Summer Host Season - and we're very proud to work with this great group of dedicated and friendly volunteers, ready and happy to answer all those "Where is..." "How do I find..." and "What is a good place for..." questions, each weekend day. From their centrally located Host table at the entrance of Paseo Nuevo (State & De la Guerra), they'll be armed with our newest Downtown Map & Guide, menus and brochures of Downtown SB venues, along with their passion and knowledge of our city.
But they won't be swinging solo this year! Thanks to a generous grant from Visit Santa Barbara, you'll also see the awesome and orange MIKE the Bike this summer! This Mobile Information Kiosk Explorer, ridden by the intrepid Chloe, will free-wheel up and down State Street, bringing the answers TO the answer-seekers.
Between Chloe, MIKE, and our fabulous volunteer Hosts, we have Downtown Santa Barbara covered. If you would like to be a Downtown Host this summer, please contact Kate or Chloe. Shifts are noon to 2:00 pm or 2-4 pm, and free parking in City lots is included.
Put your knowledge to the test and help us show off the best Downtown SB has to offer! Downtown Santa Barbara Members: if you'd like to be a Host Table Sponsor for the summer and have your materials featured on the Host table for a nominal fee of $250, contact Kate for details!

Non-Profits to Know:
Jodi House
Jodi House empowers brain injury survivors to not merely survive, but thrive.
A brain injury can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Whether due to an auto accident, sports injury, stroke, tumor, or one of countless other causes, chances are you, or someone you know, has been affected by a brain injury.
During the chaotic and confusing days, weeks, or months in the ER, hospital, or inpatient rehabilitation, it is extremely difficult to comprehend what life with a brain injury will be like. Yet, once the medical professionals have finished their lifesaving work, survivors and their families are usually left to cope on their own with the life-changing and, often, lifelong emotional, behavioral and social effects of the injury.
Jodi House helps brain injury survivors reclaim their lives, and helps families
and caregivers find solutions, resources, and support.
