Nicholas Institute Part of Think Tank Map

Think tank map The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions is among 260 think tanks featured on a new interactive map by the International Center for Climate Governance. The map provides an overview of think thanks across the world active in the field of climate governance, and will eventually provide the first rankings of these organizations. 

 

The State of Climate Policy in the South

Jonas Monast, director of the Nicholas Institute's Climate and Energy Program, recently participated in the Georgia Institute of Technology's Clean Energy Speaker Series. Listen to audio from the event as Monast and Georgia Tech Professor Marilyn Brown discuss the state of climate policy in the South.

 

Report: Where Is the Carbon? 

The Journal of Forestry features an article by researchers at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, which looks at the potential of Southern forests to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions by sequestering carbon. 

 

Spring 2013 Seminar Series Starts Friday

Join the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions and the UPEP Environmental Institution for our  Spring 2013 Seminar Series, featuring leading experts discussing a variety of environmentally focused topics. Up first: Alexandra Klass of the University of Minnesota Law School presents "Interstate Transmission Challenges for Renewable Energy: A Federalism Mismatch" at 10 a.m. Jan. 11. 

 

Staff Pen Chapter in Book on Leadership

Duke University recently highlighted new books by faculty and staff. The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions contributed to one of the publications, "Environmental Leadership: A Reference Handbook."

 

Report: Reducing the Cost of CO2 Capture

Research by the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, featured in the International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, looks at reducing the average cost of carbon dioxide capture by shutting down the capture plant at times of high electricity prices. 

 

Ecosystem Services Project Begins

The National Ecosystem Services Partnership at the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions is working alongside federal natural resource managers to develop viable approaches to account for ecosystem services in planning and management processes. The two year project, which kicks off this month, will be funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
