ACTION ALERT: FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Since October's public meeting, things have been quietly chugging along on the underpasses campaign. Now we have an opportunity to secure funding for the construction of the Anderson Memorial Bridge underpass:

MassDOT is creating a five-year Capital Investment Plan (CIP) to guide funding for MassDOT projects in 2017-2021. Right now, the construction of the Anderson underpass is NOT included!

Send an email (see template below) to [email protected] by Friday, May 13 and let MassDOT know how important this underpass is to you. (In case you need a reminder of what this underpass would look like, here is the public meeting presentation).

Without your support, funding for the underpass will be much harder to obtain - so don't wait!
Thank you for your help,

Subject: CIP Comments - Include funding for Anderson Bridge underpass

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on MassDOT's five-year Capital Investment Plan. I am writing to urge you to include funding for the construction of a pedestrian/bicycle underpass at the Boston side of the Anderson Memorial Bridge in the Capital Investment Plan.

This underpass, which is currently being designed by Gill Engineering for MassDOT, is a long-overdue addition to the Soldier's Field Road / North Harvard Street intersection. Once constructed, an underpass will complement the planned at-grade intersection improvements to increase safety for pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles alike, as well as provide a contiguous 3.5-mile riverside corridor for runners and cyclists, promoting MassDOT's mode shift and greenhouse gas reduction goals.

Again, I urge you to include funding for the construction of a pedestrian/bicycle underpass at the Boston side of the Anderson Bridge, a vital addition to MassDOT's infrastructure, in the five-year Capital Investment Plan. Thank you again for the opportunity to comment.

Sincerely,
[your name]
