Panel Discussion: The Future of the Miami Marine Stadium

Thursday, October 24, 7pm  

Find out what the future holds for the Miami Marine Stadium and its impact on Miami's culture and economy. This panel features Fritz Hager, Executive Director, Antique Boat Museum of Clayton, NY; Tom Mooney, City Planner Miami Beach and Triathlete; Bruce Orosz, President and CEO, ACT Productions; Jorge Hernandez, Co-Founder, Friends of Miami Marine Stadium and Tim McClimon, President, American Express Foundation. Moderated by Don Worth, Co-Founder Friends of Miami Marine Stadium. FREE 

    

 Saving our Miami Marine Stadium! Workshop  
Friday, October 25, 8am-4pm   

 This professional development workshop (8 mpp) will focus on Miami-Dade County's most intriguing landmark, the Miami Marine Stadium. Participants will get to visit the Stadium (which is closed to the public), tour the exhibit Concrete Paradise: The Miami Marine Stadium with the curator, and meet the architect!  $30; $25 early bird registration (deadline October 1st); $20 member rate

 

Panel Discussion: Boat Racing Past and Future  

Wednesday, November 6, 7pm  

Meet boat racing all-stars Tom D'Eath, Duff Daily and Jose Mendana, Jr. This expert panel will recall exciting historical moments of boat racing at the Miami Marine Stadium and address the future of this daring sport. Moderated by Don Worth, Co-founder of the Friends of the Miami Marine Stadium.

Family Day on Aragon  Saturday, November 9, 2pm-5pm  

Join us for a children's tour to learn about the history of the Miami Marine Stadium, the important need to save it, and your powerful role as a community activist! Join the Museum every second Saturday for free admission, kids activities and performances!  Our Family Day is presented as part of Family Day on Aragon! Check with our partners Books & Books and the Coral Gables Art Cinema to find more family fun happening on Aragon today. Family Day at the Coral Gables Museum is made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners. FREE.

 

Bike Tour - Bike the Basin (the Miami Marine Stadium basin)  Sunday, November 17, 11am

In celebration of our featured exhibit, Concrete Paradise: The Miami Marine Stadium, this tour will take place on Virginia Key. Adventurous athletes can bike from the Museum while the rest of us can meet at the stadium at 11 a.m.! This tour will address the Stadium's architecture, past and future! Nearby mountain biking trails offer a full day of fun. Bring refreshments and spend the day! (approx. 1.5 hr) $10; $5 for Museum members and children under 12. Space is limited. Graffiti Panel: Tuesday, November 20, 7:00 PM

  A discussion about the evolution and significance of Miami Graffiti covering decades and styles from the Miami Marine Stadium to Wynwood. This panel will include graffiti artists and Wynwood graffiti tour operator Martha Greenlee, and others.
