For the 5^th year, Special Olympics Georgia and the Law Enforcement Torch Run of Georgia are proud to host our annual Polar Plunge at Lake Lanier Islands Sunset Cove on Saturday, February 15, 2014!   The Polar Plunge is the largest fundraising effort benefiting Special Olympics.  Many states across the nation participate in this annual event through the efforts of their Law Enforcement Torch Run program.

On Friday, April 25, 2014 and Saturday, April 26, 2014 "edgers" who are brave enough to each raise $1,000 for Special Olympics Georgia will rappel off Buckhead Tower (adjacent to Lenox Square Mall), a 20 story building, in Atlanta, GA.  All the money raised will go to support the year-round training of the 25,878 athletes of Special Olympics Georgia.

New Year's Resolutions

Most of us make them and break them.  Why?  There are many different reasons.  For 2014 make a financial checklist and set deadlines.  Then ask someone close to you to check in on you monthly and make sure you hit those deadlines.  What should be some of your financial resolutions?  

Here is a top ten list:

1. Do you have a Last Will and Testament, Financial Power of Attorney, and Advance Directive for Health Care? If yes, then review them and if no, then contact an estate planning attorney (see my December article on how to choose an advisor).  You should also have an important list to give to your family and friends with information on who to contact, where your assets are held, and your digital media passwords (or where to find them).
2. Review your home, auto, and umbrella insurance policies.  Do you have ordinance coverage? Do you have replacement coverage?  Do you have an umbrella policy?  Contact your agent and review the policies in detail and also contact a competitor and compare.
