I just saw Jennifer Leslie on the 11 Alive news in front of a huge geyser of water spouting near Georgia Perimeter College.  She said that so far DeKalb County officials say that even though this problem is very near to Dunwoody Elementary, Dunwoody High and Vanderlyn, that school will still be held today.  However,  expect traffic delays and bus route changes.

The ice on the power -lines is an impressive site.   My prediction is that many in the area (including me) may lose power.

Caution:  Many of you ride right by this are on the way to Peachtree so just be aware that traffic will be HORRIBLE this morning.

Below is an excerpt copied from WSB's website:

An erupted water main is shooting thousands of gallons of water high into the air near Georgia Perimeter College.

Dunwoody police said crews were working in the area of Tilly Mill and Womack roads Tuesday night and dug a whole exposing the pipe before they left for the night. The pipe burst around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The water is running off into the parking lot of Georgia Perimeter College. With temperatures well-below freezing, nearby fences and power poles are now covered with ice.

Police said the road has been salted as they wait for the water to be turned off, but the road is closed in the meantime.

Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until Wednesday afternoon, with a high of 41. We'll see a gradual warm-up until temperatures in to 60s and rain this weekend, Minton said.
