Sidney Johnson has inspired a "kids kudos" article for today. Sidney is a 5th Grader at Kittredge Magnet School. You can read about her inspiring act of kindness below!
I'm hearing more and more about kids in our area that are doing kind, selfless things such as this and I want to recognize them whenever I can! My 11 year old went to a birthday party this weekend whereby the birthday boy collected games and toys to give to the kids at CHOA! My son and a friend collected money for Alzheimer's Research in lieu of gifts for their birthdays last August. Please let me know if you hear of any kids doing inspirational and selfless things like this. I'll gladly offer free publicity for kids who are raising money for worthy causes. I do that often and want to continue catching kids doing great things! So please let me know if you hear any inspiring "Kudos to the Kids" type stories and remember to send me photos to show off their smiling faces!
We have lots of other news that has been submitted below by the fabulous Aha! Subscribers. Please check out the details below about community news, events, school, camp, sports & fitness and more!
Have a GREAT weekend! Hopefully I'll see some of you at the Holy Innocents' Open House tomorrow!

Submitted by Elizabeth Johnson:
In light of McDaniel' Leask's generosity for Sandy Hook and also inspired by NBC's Ann Curry's #26acts of kindness, Sidney decided that for her 11th birthday on December 29th, she wanted her friends to bring a new toy to be donated to the United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur in lieu of buying her a gift. Sidney and I delivered the toys as well as new toiletries and gently used clothes to the home about a week later.
The fabulously sweet employees were so excited, they posted Sidney's photo on their Facebook page to thank her. They also asked us to put on our thinking caps for ways to help out the home and other charitable organizations. (Be sure to "like" them on Facebook!)

Neil Simon wrote both male and female versions of his play about two mismatched roommates, One neat but uptight, the other easygoing and slovenly. Most of us are familiar with the male version with Oscar Madison and Felix Unger.
In 1985, Neil Simon revised The Odd Couple for a female cast. It was titled The Female Odd Couple and was based on the same story line and same lead characters, now called Florence Unger and Olive Madison. The poker game became Trivial Pursuit with their friends becoming the girlfriends: Mickie, Sylvie, Vera, and Renee. The Pigeon sisters became the Costazuela brothers, Manolo and Jesus. Read More »
