I don't normally send out Saturday emails but I know so many of you are interested in what is going on with our local DeKalb schools.  John Heneghan compiled several great articles/videos and posted them on his blog this morning and I wanted to make sure you saw them.

My family also saw The Hobbit last night and I thought you might like our review in case you are interested in going to the movies this weekend.

Finally, Lauri L. spotted a Coyote last night and we thought you might want to know about it!  See details below.....audra signature

Coyote Sighting from Lauri L.

"Driving home at 9:30 tonight (Friday) a coyote ran in front of our car, across Chamblee-Dunwoody right before Vermack.  It ran into the neighborhood right there "

Anders Family Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

hobbitStudioMovieGrill1First let me say that I have been a fan of Studio Movie Grill for years.  Yesterday I bought a Groupon for a movie and a soft drink for each member of my family and we headed to SMG to see The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey.  I was surprised and disconcerted to learn when I arrived that most people had already reserved their seats on-line.   I was unaware that you could do this in advance (apparently this was changed in the fall) and would highly recommend doing this so you don't have to sit on the second row like we did.

Nevertheless even though I am far sighted,  I enjoyed this magical movie immensely.   I'm a huge fan of J. R. R. Tolkien and his friend C.S. Lewis and all of their books and movies!   The special effects and the 3D cinematography of The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey are phenomenal!  Plus, I love stories where good triumphs over evil, great life lessons are taught, and young imaginations are tapped!

The movie is rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, and frightening images.  However, I decided that these particular 13 reasons wouldn't stop me from taking my two boys who are 11 and 14 and I'm glad I let them see it!

Here's the moving rating scoop from our family:

Mom:  A
Dad:  B
11 year old:  C
14 year old:  A+

So, my oldest and I have downloaded The Lord of the Rings Trilogy to our TiVO and will be found for much of the rest of the winter break over-dosing on J. R. R. Tolkien!
