The use of live coccidial vaccination programs to control coccidiosis is on the rise. However, vaccination may reduce early bird growth, which does not occur when using medicated feed. Research shows that adding Original XPC

The newest member of our North America Poultry Team comes to Diamond V with more than 20 years of experience in food safety research, shown in more than 90 refereed journal articles. He also has played a leading role in a long list of book chapters, conference proceedings, and trade journal articles.

Douglas Smith, Ph.D., has joined Diamond V as Food Safety Director, which North American Poultry Director Mike Mitchell announced recently.

said. "We're looking forward to Dr. Smith's role in refining and advancing Diamond V's food safety initiative."


Most recently Doug was an associate professor in the Prestage Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University and an adjunct professor at Clemson University's Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Science. He also has been a research food technologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service, an assistant professor in Poultry Science at the University of Georgia, and director of quality assurance with OK Foods in Fort Smith, AR.

Doug has long-standing memberships in the Poultry Science Association, World's Poultry Science Association, and International Association for Food Protection. In addition, he is a Servsafe Certified Instructor and Proctor.

He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Poultry Science from the University of Georgia and was awarded both the Sigma Xi Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award and the Poultry Scienc Association's Graduate Student Research Paper Certificate of Excellence.
