Provides Training at Conference

Community Action staff were able to attend training on topics ranging from ROMA in the Real World to Social Enterprises during the Community Action Association of Region VI 2014 conference held Oct. 22-24 in San Antonio, Texas.

Region VI Head Start Association
Conferences Provide Training

Head Start: Still the Nation's Pride was the theme for the Region VI Head Start Association conference held Nov. 10-13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. More than 45 training sessions were offered. More than 30 Oklahomans registered for the conference.

INCA Head Start Director Mary Spence Retires

Mary Spence retired after 39 years of service to the INCA Community Services Head Start program. She began her career in 1975. Over the years she has held many positions including Teacher's Aide, Teacher, Center Director, Health Coordinator, Mental Health Coordinator, Program Manager and lastly the Head Start Director since 2000.

OWHAC Accepting Scholarship Applicants

The Oklahoma Weatherization and Housing Advisory Council is accepting applications for its $1,000 Ted Allen/David Walker Scholarship until January 16, 2015.

Bellmon Scholarship Application Available

The Bellmon Community Action Scholarship awards up to $1,500 per academic year to provide opportunities for Community Action clients, children of clients, or children of employees of Community Action Agencies to attend Oklahoma State University. Submission deadline is February 2, 2015.

OK Policy Institute  Issues CountySTATS 2014

The Oklahoma Policy Institute has released a tool for learning about Oklahoma's counties and residents. CountySTATS 2014 covers demographics, the economy, education and health. The fact sheets display statistics for each of the state's 77 counties.
